Hi. I remember seeing a recipe for a red ale that was stated to be so red it would be perfect for halloween. It was a while ago, and I didn't print it out because I thought I'd remember where I saw it. Oops. I'm hoping this might trigger a memory for some of you: It was an article (I think BYO, or at least in that style of article) about a beer style (I think red ale). At the bottom of the article there were sample recipes. After the first sample recipe, there was another one that credited a famous brewery or brewer (I thought it was Vinnie Cilurzo) for help and input in developing the recipe. It said the beer wold be frighteningly red and would be perfect for Halloween. I Google searched the heck out of this, and for whatever my search terms aren't coming up with the result that I recall. Do any of you recall seeing this also? Thanks.
That's not much to go on. But the thought of red ale and Vinnie made me think of red ale and hops... West Coast Amber. If a West Coast Amber/Red IPA is the sort of thing you want, maybe Jamil Zainasheff's Evil Twin recipe? https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/homebrew-recipe/evil-twin/ http://www.mrmalty.com/late_hopping.php
FWIW: some food coloring in the beer when you are bottling or kegging will not hurt anything, and it will still come out red when they pour the beet.
Is this possibly the one you're thinking of? https://byo.com/recipe/alesmith-brewing-co-s-evil-dead-red-clone/
Didn't take long to find it - this sounds like the recipe you're looking for: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/homebrew-recipe/evil-twin/
