The moderator closed this twice without telling me where it belongs. So if any mod is reading, tell me if this post belongs some place else. So...

I have both a Cantillon Lambic Bio Gueuze 2016 and 2017. I am sending one to a buddy. He doesnt care which one. I will drink mine within the next few months. Which one is better? Is there a general consensus? I know its a matter of opinion, but sometimes its obvious which vintage is better. So any help or info would be great! Cheers!

Send them to me. I will compile a painstakingly detailed analysis and report back to you.

It's an honest question but which one I like best may not be the one you like best.

What’s the plan? Keep or send the one that’s deemed better?

Save them for the next time you see your buddy and then open both.

My buddy lives in California and doesn't drink sours. Ive been drinking Cantillon for years. If one a subtle differences, he wouldn't notice but I would. If one vintage had a general consensus of being better that year, I would like it as I could always get the one send him. But he wouldn't notice. Its just me trying to show him what a real lambic is.

Maybe suggest some readily accessible lambic as a way to get introduced to the style. It's pretty easy to get Cuvee Rene, Geuze Boon, and Hanssens OG. If he likes those, then send him some Bio Gueuze '16.

You’ve not had either yourself? No disrespect but your buddy can go without, you obviously need to try them and find out for yourself which you prefer.

Essentially they will be the “same”, but slight differences in flavors that the yeast and other ingredients between the years.
