Valid points, I just hate getting gouged.. I was just wondering if this price was normal for Cantillon. I've never had it but I've seen the hype it gets here.
And yes, I've enjoyed the few Gueze's I've tried (Marriage Parfait, Hanssens, Tilquin)

What I've tried to do besides telling friends when really limited beers land quietly is to find a few local BA's on here that are an active part of the community and BM them the info. I've made some friends in the process and it helps prevent non-BA lurkers from seeing the info and snatching up all the beer and not even drinking it.
Op was good intentioned though and another BA did benefit, so all's well that end's well. Interesting thread nonetheless.

    Whoa. Heavy thread.

I was in New York one month ago and bought what I presumed to be the last two Cantillon "Iris" around. This was at Eagle Provision, Park Slope, Brooklyn. This was also after hitting 6 other beer stores around the city.

Cantillon is rare and it is coveted. This hopefully will never change, because it is one of very few things in the beer world that has prominence.

For the curious bunch, I paid $62 bones for each 750mL bottle. I'm still a state of shock, but I teach a course where we taste every style in the BJCP guide, and finding an Un-blended Lambic in Toronto, or Canada for that matter, is next to impossible. I also know that this is not the "TRUE" Un-blended Lambic, but it's close enough, and good luck finding that stuff.

Eagle always has Cantillon in stock.. Their absurd price gouging keeps most locals away.
Some believe they order online from Belgium then apply their heavy markups.
Glad you could find what you were looking for though.

I had something like this recently happen. It felt nice to have time to get a limited release since I commute 1:30 to and from work so I'm out of commission on beer releases until 6 each weekday, since I don't think there's anywhere near work worthwhile or at least know about it. It is nice to reward the regular customers imo. It's good for the owner bc it should lead to more loyalty by the customers and good for the customers that their loyalty is being rewarded.

Breukelen Bier Merchants just Tweeted that they have some Cantillon on shelf. I think it's the Classic and the Rose. Can't make it, but good luck to whoever can!

They have 375ml bottles of 2011 Gueze and Rose for $22/each. Not worth it for me. Might as well buy one at a bar.
