Does anyone know if any stores in the city get Cantillon? If so, is it only certain times a year, or is there any around now? I checked beermenus but came up empty. Thanks for your help!

I think some does or will in the foreseeable future make it here but not on a frequent or predictable schedule. @Vav (Binnys Lincoln Park beer manager) and @quinnsi (The Beer Temple owner) should be able to provide more details.

There was no distro for a while due to issues with the distributor. Just started again recently. I used to see or hear about shipments quarterly. However very limited, few places will get it, and historically you need to know when and where, and be in good with the beer managers.

Yes stores get it. Super limited. Usually gone before people know it's there.

Binnys LP just recently got a shipment of it, but I forgot where I read it, Vav said he put most of the allocation of it at the bar to try and encourage more people to drink it and not have it just become trade bait or hoard it

A shipment came in a few weeks ago and sold out pretty much instantly. More goes to bars and restaurants for on site consumption I believe. People were going to places and ordering mulitple Lou Pepe's in one sitting though. Might be a few bottles floating around at restaurants with good bottle lists.

Don't expect to find it at a liquor store unless you have inside information or get extremely lucky.

This is correct, however that sorta backfired too, as i had people buying multiple bottles to consume. Stomach Hoarding is the hip new thing, and so next time i'll have to limit the on premise bottles too. Some people realllllly know how to grind my gears

Still, at least it was enjoyed, rather than sitting on a shelf to have pictures of it taken.

As for distribution in general, it's not exactly a regular thing, and most of it goes to top accounts, who in turn sells most of it to top customers.

If you take anything from this thread, it'll be that no you won't get any. It sucks but that's the truth

@Vav Is the Shelton distribution by Miguel a pretty legit thing? Seems so weird to me.

Can you elaborate on what this means at all?

The owner of Villains Bar has a distribution company, and I can't recall the name. Shelton Brothers ended the relationship with their previous distributor and many people were surprised when they began seeing Shelton Brothers offerings available again in Chicago - and it's coming in through this company. I'll take Vav's word that he and this are awesome.

Is this the reason why prairie artisan ales is back in Illinois?

Without speaking for Miguel, i dont believe he was ever an owner, and he's no longer involved regardless.

    Yep
