Cantillon in Melbourne

Last few major shipments have been in summer

 

I have picked up a bottle from Grain n Grape, the local hombres store in Melbourne, may have just been a lucky dip though .

 

A new batch should be hitting shelves Sept-Oct I think. Usual suspects, Gambrinus, Kriek, Geuze, Saint G and Iris.
13 cases total to WA. Getting bugger all compared to years gone past...

I've heard from a few people that there's a very large beer club based in the US that is cleaning up Cantillon across the globe. Not sure if this has or will affect us.

 

Heard that too....reckon its a lot of scaremongering, I've seen plenty of posts on FB with plenty of stock sitting on shelves in Belgium etc......just a reason to charge like a wounded bull. Online stores would be a different story, as I believe their supply would be the first to go.....

 

The situation has become ridiculous. Sick of the masturbation over Cantillon. It's because too many fuckwits have become involved in the beer scene over the last couple of years.

Will strongly consider boycotting any store which continues to charge ridiculous prices for it.

We are getting Zwanze again, so I'd expect a shipment around then (Zwanze day) i.e Zwanze kegs + a few others & bottles.

 

What were some of the places that were charging ridiculous prices for it? I'm also interested in hearing what these prices were considering that a decent price for 750's would be $25-$30.

 

Think Barny's has been distributing to others around the East Coast, can't be 100% sure though. ~40 for 375s and triple digits for 750s if I recall correctly...

Try $100 for regular-ass Gueuze and Kriek, $140 for Fou Foune.

I'd almost cheer if Barny's burnt to the ground.

hmmm - was lucky enuf to get a 750 Gueuze for I think $31 (then less 10% as I bought 10 beers) about three weeks ago or so from an oft-derided lower North Shore bottle-o whose reputation now seems to be sky-high imho.
it was very much a one-off small delivery and they got some FouFoune in as well which had all gone
