Drank one of my two with my wife tonight as she loves sour beers and eased the "I just paid almost $300 for whiskey" story. Helped.

Grats on the p/u and convincing the wife. Wished I was able to land some Pappy this year. I was able to score some George T Stagg but really wanted Pappy.

I don't see what one has to do with the other. I do order online, and what they did was lame. Their statement more or less consisted of "sorry we were lame, we'll try not to be lame again." It's not like I said I was outraged and wouldn't shop there anymore...

After reading this thread, I'm passing on the Lukas release today. All I wanted was a Fou... But looks like it will be a sh!t show. Good luck y'all!

If you guys are really going to make an order, I'm in. My vote is for Lukas, but I'm biased. Anyplace is fine otherwise.

Please explain how what they did was lame? They've always allowed people to order beer before it was posted on Facebook. It's just that with every other release, they've never sold out before they could post the beers.

With Cantillon, word got out that it was in town and people were calling nonstop. Since, you know, they're in the business of selling beers, they sold them. Sorry you didn't get your beer from them and that you spent the whole day watching Facebook. Other people decided that a different method might be more effective and, this time, it turned out that it was. Mile High wasn't lame, didn't change their policy, and stuck to bottle limits on limited releases. They didn't save it only for their best customers and I think it's pretty great that they released these beers to the public, albeit without the Facebook announcement that you were hoping for.

I think it's also important to realize that they weren't happy with the way things turned out, so in their FB post, they said they're going to change their policy and release beers exactly the way you want them to...no sales until it's posted on Facebook. I think that's pretty upstanding of them and pretty customer-service oriented. This is the first time that this happened to them, they realized it didn't go down the best way that it could have, so they changed their policy the next day.

    Cheers!

Here, let me lay it down for you. I'm a regular. I check twitter, facebook, and their website pretty much everyday, multiple times a day. I have never heard of them selling before posting, and in nearly EVERY SINGLE OTHER release, including the past Cantillon release in August and Drie Fonteinen release in October, they posted it online when it was ready to sell. The regulars that know the system got the shaft by thinking they would announce it like they do for every other release. Let's see, how long does it take to tweet the word Cantillon. Oh I'd say about 5 seconds. So okay, yes, you have a point, maybe it wasn't their policy, but after 2 years of following this practice, you have to understand why more than a few people were upset about it that WERE regulars. And major kudos to Mile High W&S for officially stating their policy moving forward, for that I commend them. But it doesn't make it any less of a disappointment for the regulars that got shutout by people bombarding them with phone calls, just because they heard 'loons were in town and not the people that visit there all... the... time...

It's pretty much confirmed that there were a group of douches that followed the truck around, because one small store that last got Cantillon, posted it to their facebook page and took an entire day to sell out. This time they said they sold out in 30 minutes without posting it online. I could understand 2-3 people getting to this small store to buy Cantillon as soon as they called, but to sell out of 12 bottles at 1-bottle limit in less that 30-minutes without any announcement whatsoever? Get real.

Belgium or bust. I have a box full of Cantillon at home from my last order from Belgium, so I'm not bitter, just disappointed at a small group of people's behavior this time around.

I'm going to get a tow rope, hot pants, and roller blades, and hook myself up to the back of the truck when Lagunitas SUCKS hits later this winter. Who's with me?!?

I mean then there's just the reality that over the last couple years there's just more regulars and beer advocates than beer and more often than not we're all going to be more likely to get shut out.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to get in on an order, send me a list of what you want from Belgiuminabox I've got 2 people in already and room for maybe 2 more or so.

One thing that is important to remember...the last time that Cantillon came into town, there wasn't a BA post about Cantillon raining down. I think that put a lot more people on the alert and probably ramped up the demand by a significant amount.

Bottom line...it's a bummer that people ended up upset. Hopefully that won't happen next time. I just didn't think that it was fair that Mile High was getting nailed when (still) in my opinion, they didn't do anything wrong. I understand that others don't agree. Regardless, I look forward to raising a glass with you guys tomorrow!

I think it's horse manure that a place will be held hostage by Facebook on selling their product. First come, regulars, or big spenders should roll first. A-holes that spend all day twitting and facebooking on Facebook shouldn't dictate the market. Did we lose a war? That isn't America, it isn't even Mexico.

I have a very simple and American solution to the cantillon issues this go around. Blame the hypeman!! It's all Joshclauss' fault. Burn him at the stake! Done and done.

Why is it automatically Mile High Wine and Spirits fault that people didn't get Cantillon? No one has even made a whisper that Mondo Vino, Joy and Mr Bs and argonaut also received cases and sold out extremely fast without any sort of social media announcements. Seriously who gives a shit. I don't understand why Mile Highs so called "regulars" consistently throw them under the bus here

    It's just beer.

Did anyone really see people following a truck? Or was that just a joke that is now spiraling? Unbelievable if so.

Honestly, if you don't want to buy it online, just trade for it. Fou Foune is harder to trade for, thanks 100% to threads like this, but the other ones that used to sit on the shelf are still easily obtainable via trade.

Yup. Didn't anyone get mad at the shop that said something along the lines of "our employee's have spoken for it?"
