Now that we're getting the beer, how's the prices? I bought a 12oz bottle of the Geueze yesterday at a bottle shop here in Hamtown, $30. Then I get to a local bar that got a case, and they were selling 750s across the bar for $30. I'ma thinking I mighta got screwed just a bit.

I think I paid about $20 for the classic gueuze (750) and around $15 for the kriek (375).
So yeah, it sounds like you got mega screwed.

geeeez so did you.. I wouldn't pay more than $8 for the 375 Kriek.. $20 for the gueuze isn't a ******, but not great either.

Yeah, I've felt like Cantillon and 3F pricing in WA has been high. However, my only comparison aside from buying in Belgium is up in Vancouver, where 375's were $10-12 and 750s were $17-$30 depending on the style.

The bar also got in 3F, and I prepaid for a 750 to have for NBS this week. If Cantillon is retailing @$20/750, I don't feel bad about the $30 bar price. This is my first experience buying Cantillon, so I was going in regardless, but a pint of Unibrou Raftman and a 12oz Geuze for $37+ was somewhat surprising.

The only time I have seen the 375ml Gueze, it was $8 and some change. That was earlier this year.

Maybe the store screwed up the bottle size price? That's the first thought that crosssed my mind, that maybe they inadvertently priced it at the 750 price.

I saw 3F's Intense Red for $18/375. How does that compare?

These numbers are from memory, I've got the receipt @ home so I'll double-check later. In any case, I'm willing to pay a little more if I find a bottle, just because I want to try all the Cantillons I can to find out what all the buzz is about. For me, the convenience of finally being able to buy these locally is certainly worth a few bucks compared to traveling out of state to get them, trying to trade for them, or paying for shipping for online delivery.

yeah good point. the convenience is defintely worth something. I make trips up to BC every once in while and I just load up when I'm there. Gueuze and Kriek are always on the shelves.

Interesting. I wonder if, ahem, this might have some impact on the prices certain restaurants and bars in town charge for Cantillon now.

Wow you got hosed. The 375's are $7-$10 here. 750ml for the Kriek, Gueuze, and Rose are all under $20. Everything else is $25 for 750ml. But we don't have any left

p.s. next time I'm passing through B-Ham I'll try and bring you some loons

    Let me guess
Let me guess. The Station? The regular beer prices are great, but unfortunately anything deemed "special" or "rare" gets a pretty high markup. They're still new at this.

For Black Butte XXV, they were $4 a bottle over Food Coop. I didn't do any price research beforehand, I just wanted the damn beer. But, when you can buy a 750 over the bar, for the same price as a 12oz retail? I guess I won't be buying much "Limited" stuff there anymore. I'm hearing a similar attitude from the other beer geeks in town.

$8 euro for Fou Foune 750 and $6 euro for Classic Gueuze 750 at the brewery last year is what i paid...probably doesn't translate to this situation though. If you buy the Gueuze let it sit a year or two and you will be justly rewarded. So happy to have their (and 3F) beers in the market!

Yep, those are the exact prices I've paid at BS and other Portland shops in the past. Even Fou Foune has been $22 and under when I've seen it, rapey cash only bar prices excluded. Of course, I haven't come across any Loons whatsoever in about a year.
