So what you're saying is that we all got screwed. Stay classy, Seattle shops.

I bought a 375 Gueuze at Chuck's for 8-9 bucks the other week. So, props for them, I guess.

"rapey cash only bar prices excluded"

LOL!!! Not that I have any idea what place or places you might be referring to.

I drank my bottle of Classic Gueuze last night and, even if I paid $20 (couldn't locate the receipt, so not sure) I don't feel like I got screwed all that bad. The only gueuze I've had that compares is Tilquin (which I believe is basically more or less the same beer), and that one's $24 around town. So sure, if I could get it for less I would, but given its price point it's still a better choice than most others even if they are cheaper.

It's been in Oregon for years. Even used to turd up the shelves for that matter. The great purge of 2010/2011 saw the end of that though. Now they're available through ghost distribution.

    I have paid...

    $8.99 for a 375ml of Loon Gooze
$18.25 for 750ml of Loon Gooze
    $18.75 for 750 of 3 Font Gooze

I thought it would be a LOT worse, honestly

They mark up "rare" beer all the time. I used to be a big supporter but lately I grab a pint on tap, check the selection and leave because I know I can buy the same bottled beer for less in two or three places in town.

Prices will vary greatly based on where you get it. Even in Canada (where it's a turd on da shelf) the price of a 750 can vary from ~$15 to ~$30. But for most people, it's so limited they'll pay any price they see.

    18 for 50n4e.

I got a Lou Pepe Kriek free because I brought a Grandfather Raven to share.

Honestly, for straight gueuze I think 3F is better and generally attainable. On the other hand Cantillon's special stuff (Fou Foune, Lou Pepe, etc.) is awesome and worth the effort/cost.

I found Fou Foune for $80.00...how crazy is this price?

I'm pretty sure I know where you found it and it's pretty crazy. That particular store marks up some of the rarer Cantillon bottles about 2x what they should reasonably sell for. Oddly they sold St. Lamvinus for $40 not long ago - not sure why the disparity between the two.

I really wanted that Lamvinus and was o.k. with forking the 40 since someone told me it has wine, pinot noir specifically, qualities. It was gone by the time I was able to make it down there. Today I stopped by to see what they had, to my surprise Cantillon sitting on the shelve. But after checking out the prize, it made sense. Surprised too, since they don't mark-up most of their beer.
