Just curious which of these beers is easiest to obtain and what it would take to acquire in a trade. Never had one before and very interested! Thanks!

The Classic Gueuze is the easiest to obtain I believe. It does show up in certain places but disappears just as quickly. You could probably trade limited off the shelf beers local to your area that other people may not have access to. I could be wrong, but looking at your gots, you may be able to snag one with Abyss or Parabola, maybe Speedway, BBXIII, or multiples of Plead the 5th. If anyone thinks I'm off base (I'v never traded for it) feel free to say so.

Also, the generic response, throw up an ISO Cantillon, list a few things you would part with, and see what happens.

There really is no such thing as an easy Cantillon. Even the Classic Gueuze can be hard to trade for. A problem when trading for Cantillon is they are hard to come by and tend to be expensive. Depending on how much you want, you may want to check out some on-line sites and buy some. It may cost you less than trading for them.

Buying online seems like the best option. It will probably cost you about $18-25 for a bottle of Classic Gueuze, Rose, and Kriek to purchase it online from Belgium. The way some people (and retailers) hoard Cantillon these days, it seems like it's not worth the effort to buy or trade for $30 bottles of Classic Gueuze.

If you choose to trade, CG is the easiest to come by and a great beer. It should tell you pretty quickly whether or not you like Gueuze. I've sent these as extras before in the past when I could reliably get more, but these days I tend not to send them out anymore since I only run into them a couple times a year now. Most people don't consider Cantillon "on the shelf" anymore, comparables might be high-in-demand seasonals like Curmudgeon's Better Half, KBS, Bourbon County Coffee, etc.

Just out of curiosity, where can one find Cantillon online outside of ebay?

For the best variety and in-stock availability I've seen, you're best bet is to order from Belgium. Etre Gourmet, Belgiuminabox, etc. Shipping is pricey of course but the selection will beat any place in the USA.

It's definitely worth going to Belgian route if you are ordering multiple bottles. My last shipment of Classic Gueuze(75cl) ended up being $16 per bottle after shipping.

To the OP... start a conversation with me. I should be able to hook you up with a bottle. Have any interesting local IPAs out your way? I'm always looking for a local growler.

International sites only. You'll pay a hearty $20-$40 per bottle shipped, and need 10-12 bottles to justify the shipping rates. So plan on dropping $300. But, it's better than nothing.

If you're just looking to try a bottle or two, it's still much easier to trade.

The easiest way to drink Cantillon lambic is to drink Tilquin Gueuze. Ha.

Seriously though Tilquin blends a damn good beer

I just dropped $420 on a box including shipping on the Armand'4 box set, 3x Bio Geuze, Vigneronne, Iris, Kabert and some glassware. Shared order. That was only my portion of the shipping too, grand total was even bigger.
    Point is... it ain't cheap!

also - if youre planning on ordering for belgium and want to make it worth it, go in with a friend or 2 and split up the order. this way you dont have to blow like 300 all at once and you can order a few different types and try them all together and figure out which ones you like best.

you can even score stuff like fou foune, mamouche and lou pepes online on occasion, but you have to be quick.

I was thinking the same thing. That is my second favorite gueuze and given that it is much easier to find, it should be my #1.

I'd definitely recommend s going this route to see what you think before spending a lot more on Cantillon without ever having it.

Nothing crazy, just something basic and limited. Bourbon County Coffee, Better Half, Parabola, etc could all likely land a Kriek. (Probably definitely a 375)

I just got extremely lucky today in Chicago and ran across a shipment of 2009 Cantillon Lou Pepe that was gone as soon as people realized a shipment had just come in at a local Binny's. In the (unlikely) event I run into a bottle to trade (the one I picked up is my first to try, so it's not going anywhere), any idea what the trade value would be? CBS for Lou Pepe, for instance? Lou Pepe for Black Tuesday, etc.? (This would seem to make the most sense $4$)

    Probably
CBS is tough for an 09 LP Kriek, but BT11 is more likely though also probably tough. 09 LP Kriek can still be ordered from Belgium. However, it's worth a shot and if you don't want to drink it, I'm sure someone will definitely trade you a very decent beer for it

Thanks for the info - checking Etre Gourmet and Belgiuminabox I noticed it was all gone - are there other places to check in case I want to go in with a couple others and buy a case?

Availability comes and goes as they get new shipments or add beers to the system. Only thing to do is check back frequently
