Was anyone able to participate in Cantillon's first bottle sale online? How was it handled? What were the prices? How was shipping handled? Despite the obvious hassle with actually getting through the website when it happened I was just curious how it went. Thanks!
Didn't even hear anything about it happening. Have you a link to the information or the announcement?
It was on facebook. They sold 3 bottle bundles that included a lou pepe, 50n4e and fou foune. It was 2 weeks ago (or longer) as I saw many people who ordered in the states already got their packages. Something about this is their effort to reduce muling that takes place? It was a very successful "test" that crashed their website. They mentioned they would do it again for what I assume will be limited releases but dont see how it will continue due to laws...

No, not a pig. Just wondering whether to bother looking into it or not. I'm in MD, and I don't think we are a state that is allowed to buy and ship beer into the state (legally). Nothing wrong with shipping jelly or organic olive oil though!
They may use private courier that skips customs and such, wouldn't shock me a bit if they delivered everywhere and anywhere.
I was wondering if it being a foreign shipper would make a difference. I know some U.S. Based online stores won't ship to many states, but I've seen quite a few people order from Belgian sites.
I used to order Absinth from France I think, they shipped it by private courier which is why it cost so much. At that time it was illegeal everywhere, but they put on my front porch.
Does anyone have an idea what the odds are of my actually receiving beer (given customs, etc.) if I order through Belgiuminabox? If I'm spending $250+ I want to be reasonably confident that my order will be successful.
Before an overzealous customs agent at LAX decided to rain on my (our) parade, I was successful with a couple orders with BiaB. The rejected order was sent back (few years ago) and BiaB promptly refunded my money sans shipping. Nevertheless I hold BiaB in the highest regard. Have heard folks on the east coast had more luck. YMMV.
This is exactly what I thought of when I saw your first post. I did the same thing and was amazed at how fast it arrived and how smooth the process was. Given my understanding of the bottle prices for Cantillon I would imagine they could make the finances work for using couriers as well.
