I do a weekly tasting with some fellow Beer Heads and we were interested in trying some Cantillon. Before I jump on an ISO/FT thread I'm trying to figure out what some of it goes for. I'm trying to make sure i don't look like and idiot.

Has anyone made any recent trades involving Cantillon? What were they?

    Thanks!

Enola/Harrisburg. I've got a couple bottles but rarely make it to the Burgh.

May I ask what you think the trade value is on them?

The Cantillons I received I have up some Huna and MZ. Another bottle was from a family member's generosity.

I recently did Belgium In a Box, I Ordered 6 bottles, 3 750s, 3 375s, came out to around 140 with shipping. A little pricey, but a nice option if you want some of the easier bottles to find. Especially if they never make their way to your market area.

I put up a ISO/FT with some seasonal/ limited local brews and got crickets. I wasn't too interested in giving up bigger bottles for the "low end" Cantillon. So the above option seemed best for me.

    Beat me to it!

I would disagree with what I bolded, only because when you trade for Cantillon in the US, people purchased their bottles for a lot more than what you would pay overseas. Sure, shipping costs are high from Belgiuminabox, but they're probably less expensive than what you would pay to for multiple trades within the States. I paid exactly the same amount, $140, for 14 bottles from Belgiuminabox -- eleven Cantillon (Kriek, Geueze vintages, Rose de Gambrinus) and three others.

Plus you can get a ton of different Cantillons, and while you're at it throw in some Drie Fonteinen and Westvleteren for yourself too .

Really? I've never heard of it.

That definitely seems like the way to go for a tasting!

That's awesome! I feel like people have to trade their first born for a Cantillon! I'm just loping to try some of their stuff! This sounds like the best route to go!

I agree. While it seems high, if you plan on about 30 a bottle for the 750 and 15-20 for the 375, then it is a wash.

I have also never seen anywhere in the US where you can buy quantity.

Usually i see a shop get one case occasionally(maybe 2-3 times a year) and a 1 bottle limit.

Have your tasting group go in on it and make it worth while...

Good point, we dont even see Cantillon here anymore ( Shelton Bro's we want you back in MN)
I was going along the lines, expect to shell out $150 upfront, which to some, me included, is a bit more than I'd usually spend on beer.

For sure. It's expensive either way. @robgage Belgiuminabox really is the shit though, the packaging is extraordinary, the shipping is usually lightning fast (mine only took five business days), and their selection rotates constantly.

The 88 EUR package is about $220 after shipping. Not as cheap as it sounds. The paypal exchange rate is not favorable but at least since it's US based, your credit card co won't charge 3% for a foreign transaction.

$220 is a lot for a "6 pack" but at least it gets you a Viggy or St Lam.

Also, if you add another bottle onto this package it puts you into the higher shipping tier (shipping costs go from about 60 to 90 EUR.

Find 6-7 guys and spend over €450 [~$620] (about 30 bottles of loon) and the shipping is free. If you had 6 guys getting 5-6 bottles it breaks down around $100pp. A much better rate than $220 for a 6pk.

That's what I hate about Trappistworld. Belgiuminabox is much more reasonable.
