This may be dumb - but I wonder if it's because of the growing number of great craft beer bars in the U.S. and Cantillon has to be really selective who gets kegs of their beer since it's limited.

It's not Cantillon that decides. It's Shelton.

Ah interesting - Surprised Cantillon does not get a say in that

Not in all cases. The Birch is an example. JVR just made it happen for them.

I'm getting a little anxious myself. It seems weird to me that we don't know the locations yet.

Is this a ticketed event at these two locations: - Moeder Lambic Fontainas -- Brussels
    - Moeder Lambic Saint-Gilles -- Brussels ?

Thanks for the info. Do tickets go on sale day off? or have to pre-buy them? I'm from out of town and just trying to figure it out. Thanks.

does cantillon host a Zwanze day party at the brewery? Or do I need to go to Moeder Lambic to attend the event? A little confused.

For the party, you need to go to Moeder, but I believe Cantillon will be open during the day if you also wanted to visit. They won't be pouring the Zwanze beer though.

I'm also trying to figure out the deal with Zwanze in Brussels. I'm looking at flying in from Dubai and wanted to make sure I didn't fly in and get blanked out of the event. I saw it mentioned that Moeder's had a ticketed event last year...I haven't seen any details on any of the FB pages or official websites of the bars for Zwanze of how things are to be handled. Any thoughts? Is it a ticket to get you in or a ticket per item (ie: Zwanze beer, glass, etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated for the planning process! I'm trying to talk a few non-beer geek folks into taking the trip with me and want to make sure they can participate as well if possible.

    Drew,
I was going to BM you, but saw your post in here as well.

If you go to Zwanze day at Fontainas, you need a ticket! One ticket = one glass of the new Zwanze beer. Other beers you got to pay like on a regular day.

During they day, Cantillon is open, but there's no Zwanze day going on, it's just a regular saturday!

Last year's was "Abbey Beer Style" (Abbaye de Cureghem), they wouldn't do the same thing two years in a row, right?

Appreciate the response Mathieu! Is it an easy show and get your ticket situation? Or does it need to be in advance? As I'm sure you've heard...in the US it can be a bit of a debacle :grimacing: so I'm trying to make sure I have things covered. If it's just an easy show up and drink beer I'll def be seeing you there!

The 2014 Zwanze is a remake of Cuvee de Florian (originally a gueuze made from select barrels to celebrate the birth of Jean's son Florian in 1996), now a blend of the following:

Three year old Iris (standard Iris is two years old) which was *not* originally dry-hopped (i.e., Iris Grand Cru which was served at some places for Zwanze 2013). The portion for this blend was dry hopped at the time of the blend at a rate ~ 20% of that for normal Iris.

    and

Kriek with ~ 50% of the normal amount of cherries added.
