Cantillon Zwanze 2014 preview

i will be there as well and i'm wondering the same. where can/how can we purchase tickets for zwanze day?

 

Anyone have any information on the tickets? I'll be in Brussels on the 20th.

 

ok so i emailed the guys at moeder lambic and they replied

"the 13th september we will start to sell tokens for the event in both locations. we are not selling online. we will keep a few tokens for the Z day in both bars.

Make sure that you come at 9pm in the appropriate location the 20 september. after 10pm the beer might be sold out and we will not refund the tokens".

 

Thanks for the information. Really appreciate it. I'll be arriving on the 20th, so I'll show up and hope to get a token. Can anyone recommend one Moeder location over the other, or is there little difference?

 

Hi! Both locations are great, but quite different. The 'original' one in Saint-Gilles is smaller, more cosy, has more of a "local" feel to it, but they have less beers on tap (16 now if I'm not mistaken). The Fontainas one is central, is bigger and has 40 taps + 6 handpumps... AND they will be hosting an Italian Beer festival on the same weekend as Zwanze Day, in case this might interest you...

 

i will be attending Zwanze Day at Fontainas bc it's in closer proximity from where i'm staying and they'll have some italian beers that i've never had. this will be my first trip to europe and i'm thinking it's going to be epic! hoping to score some
fou' foune as well.

@Tuche, any idea what will be on tap at Fontainas for zwanzw day besides zwanze? like other cantillon beer or 3F?

 

Not sure, as they'll have the italian beer fest going on... But they always have the lambic, gueuze and kriek from Cantillon (as well as the Rosé de Gambrinus I think but less sure than the others) available at all times. They also have gueuze from Tilquin which is very good as well, and Cuvée De Ranke + Kriek De Ranke which I would definitely recommend too.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on as often here in the desert...get's a bit depressing. Seems like the question was answered though, I just saw Moeder post something similar on their FB page today as well. I'm planning on going to the Fontainas location as it's closer to my hotel walking wise and will be getting into Brussels morning of the 18th...I'll likely be heading over to secure tokens some point that day. Would love to meet up and speak beer with anyone interested! Coming from Dubai I unfortunately won't have anything to offer bottle share wise, but would just enjoy the discussion and meet up. I'll be attending with a few non-beer folks and I'm not sure how long they will last.

 

yoo @DrewLikesBeer, i'll be arriving the same day as you in the morning. i plan on heading over to Cantillon to see if i can get some fou foune for my B-day. crossing my fingers! maybe we can split a bottle or two at the brewery if you'd like. that goes for any BA's that will be there. Cheers!

 

@beefsquatch Absolutely man! Exact same boat as you and happy almost birthday! Also not sure on timing but I should be hitting up Cantillon for bottles/glassware/etc and then Moeder Fontainas for Zwanze tokens on the way back.

Fellas, I will be travelling by train from Ghent to Brussels on the morning of the 18th. I plan to be at Cantillon around 9:00 & then Moeder Fontainas after that. See you all there!

 

I'm heading to Brussels on October 12th and hoping to go to the Cantillon Brewery for the tour on the 13th. What can I expect?

 

7€ Admittance, a short but thorough explanation of the brewery and its history, a booklet and a self-guided tour trough the brewery at your own pace. Included in the entrance fee are 2 tickets for a sampler of choice. And nice people, a big breath of brettanomyces, good atmosphere, tasty lambics and geuzes,....

 

To all people visiting Moeder Lambiek Fontainas, that's the place Jean Van Roy will celebrate Zwanze Day as well!!

Do you know how much the tickets are? Is the ticket to get in or for the actual beer?
