Are there any nice craft beer bars or restaurants in Canton or short Uber ride away? not planning on a night time city trip to Boston downtown. I usually stay in Framingham but would like to stay someplace different. Obvious stop is Trillium but I'm talking more nightlife stuff. Thanks in advance.
Not the most exciting suggestion, but the British Beer Co. in Walpole (next town over) is a pretty good spot. I think you'll mainly find old school Irish pubs in Canton itself.
I would try the Yard House and Oscar's in Dedham and my personal favorite is the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth. Tons of craft beer to choose from and great food there as well. If you want some Trillium on tap the Steel & Rye in Milton usually has some or a few other good ones. Great food there as well but a bit on the $$ side.
When you've stayed in Framingham, have you hit Jack's Abby/Springdale taproom and Exhibit A (in Jack's old space)? If not, I'd stay in Framingham.
Also John Harvard's over by Shopper's World. They might have my favorite IPAs out of all the Framingham breweries.
Definitely don't sleep on Harvard's. Was in there for the first time in 2 years last week. IPAs are really good and I really liked the Oktoberfest. The food, while nothing to go crazy over, was better than I remembered/was expecting. I would love for them to realize what a talented brewer they have in @xerotime and make improvements to the space and draft equipment -- some were foaming a ton out of the taps.
Check out Moody St area in Waltham, a bit closer than Framingham. The Gaff & Brewer's Tap & Table always have great tap lists. And there are many other bars/restaurants on Moody St. http://www.thegaffbar.com/drinks.html https://www.brewerstapandtable.com/
Agreed. Right now would be a great time to rebrand around him. It would also be nice to see them start doing CO2 purges on growler fills. Also, consider calling Iron Heart
Yes - the last time I went to jacks abbey I had a beer, bought a couple at the bar a round and bought 1 more 6 oz pour and got cut off for reaching my limit. just dumb. And I was ubering. I got cut off for having 18 oz of beer. it was comical. Thier POS system tracks what you purchase and decides if it's too much and the bartender can't make any judgment calls.
Been to JA dozens of time, including events where much more than 18 oz were consumed by all, and have never heard of this happening. Sounds like a story you were told by a bartender.
Wow that's odd, never heard of a limit there. Last time I was there I had 3 pints and was asked if I wanted another (I didn't).
It's a true story - next time you are there ask if they do it - I don't care if anyone believes me - it happened - I know someone else that got cut off once too. The manager told me that's how they operate. He said they cant prove i'm getting a cab
I personally like to kick it at the Wegmans cheese and charcuterie section after five or six rounds at Trillium.
Union Brewhouse in Weymouth. They have dozens of beers, many on tap. Drink 99 of them and get a plaque. Has a dive bar vibe, but foods pretty good and you cant really beat the beer selection.
