Taking a trip at the end of this month from syracuse to Cape canaveral. I've got pretty good knowledge of northeast brews and breweries/bottle shops but will admit I'm clueless heading south. Any decent bottle shops close to cape? Looking to pickup some cigar city jai alai but other than I'm pretty open.

I don't know how stuck you're gonna be in the Cape proper. The good news is that if you can find a Publix (our grocery store), you should find CCB's core beers, including Jai Alai. Florida Beer is in the Cape. I don't think there's really anything else in the Cape specifically.

Are you going to have a car? Do you have some time get away from the Cape? The answer to those questions can help others give you more specific help. If you think you're gonna head west, check out my buddy @BKnarr's comprehensive thread on the Orlando area.

I'm going to have some time to venture out at times, will be there for a week. Tried to tall the wife into a trip to Tampa but was over ruled. I'm avaliable to travel but probably only an hour in either direction.

Appreciate the thread link, extremely helpful. Have never had any experience with total wine stores though hear about them regularly on here.

I know there's an ABC right on Atlantic that had a decent selection when I stopped in before a cruise back in October. Someone more local might know of a place with better options though.

playalinda brewing in titusville is definitely worth checking out...really enjoyed our visit there, lots of good stuff on tap - my beer geek gf and i were both very impressed

I think we've all been overruled at times! That's a L-O-N-G stretch of coast. An hour's radius from the Cape extends roughly from Daytona Beach to Orlando (via the expressway) down to Vero Beach.

There is a mediocre ABC Fine Wine and Spirits in Cape Canaveral on A1A. If you can head father south on A1A in to Cocoa Beach, there is a better one. Sunseed Food Coop in Cape Canaveral also has a nice beer selection. They are very close to the ABC. I would highly recommend stopping there

There is Florida Beer Company right near the Port. It's a nice tasting room and they do flights if you're looking to try new beers. The next-closest brewery is Bug Nutty in Merritt Island. Again, the beer is ok and they do flights if you're looking for new beers to try.

As mentioned, Playalinda in Titusville is the best brewery in the county. Not sure if you will make it (about 30 minutes north of the Cape).

Village Idiot in Cocoa Village is a great bar with a good rotating selection. We always had fun there. No food but you can bring your own. Last time we were there it was filled with SpaceX and NASA folks. They are badass and craft beer drinkers.

On the way down, only a few miles off I-95 in Wilson, NC stop at Brewmaster. 20 some taps, good bar food, Crowler and growler fills, huge bottle selection. Great folks and cool place to hang out if so inclined.

Sunseed Coop in Cape Canaveral on A1A has a small but decent bottle selection. I've always found the ABC in Cocoa Beach has a better selection than the one in Cape Canaveral. Preacher Bar in Cape Canaveral has some decent stuff on tap. Coasters is about 10 miles south on A1A, they always have a good tap list and have a nice bier garden out back. There is also Cocoa Beach Brewing which has OK beer. Agree, best brewery in the area is Playalinda.

Total wine in Viera is your best bet, about 30 minutes away. The Mansion in Melbourne is also really good, but may be too far from the cape.

Got it, this is all very helpful! Looking foward to some warm weather as its been 35 degrees here in syracuse. A beach and good beer will be a welcome reprieve from this cold!

How are you getting there? If you are driving down 95, I know there is a Total Wine in Jacksonville that is only a few minutes off the interstate. That's what I did on my drive down to Port Canaveral. We just made a lunch stop as there was a bunch of restaurants next to the TW. Better than running around all over once you get to Port Canaveral. There isn't a whole lot down there.

We drive it straight through from new york, about 20 hours. We also have two kids. By the time we hit Jacksonville I'm shot and determined to get to the resort after being up 24 plus hours. It's not the best way to travel but it cuts down on the "are we there yet's". However, if I can tire everyone out and detour while everyone is sleeping, I may be able to pull it off!

Been there, done that! Getting out to find a bottle shop may well be a welcome break!
