Got it last night, didnt crack it open yet. I'll try it tonight. Wish it was in 12oz bottles though.

The IPA is in 12oz bottles, no?

    Did you get the IIPA?

The IPA is in six packs. I picked one up yesterday and hate to say that I wasn't impressed. I thought it was pretty middling.

Any IPA that you could compare it to?

Woops, I only saw the IIPA, not the IPA yet. My bad.

Haven't had. The brewery is having a special preview tonight at the brewery for General's accounts. Don't think I am going. Waiting on sample bottles to form any opinion. Uncharted territory for sure here.

Had it last night. I thought it was pretty bland. Definently below average for an IPA to me. Would grab a lakefront IPA over this any day for about the same price point

Bland? Bland as in lacking flavor or bland as in easy and gentle?

I tasted a big rush of floral hop flavor which gave way to more of a spicy/herbal hop flavor in the finish. Underneath it all was a nice malt backbone. In fact, I was impressed that I could actually taste the malt as it is usually MIA in IPAs.

I am surprised you would describe it as bland considering the myriad of flavors here. I can see someone not liking the flavors or not liking how they are presented here but Mutiny is nowhere near tasteless and, considering the intense hop flavors, it isn't or gentle either.

To each his/her own, I guess.

Didn't they have something called Hop Cream? It wasn't very good. Neither is the name.

You guys are being silly, there is nothing wrong with regionalism in beer. In fact, regionalism, is what keeps the beer world interesting, and why people travel around and try different local brews. Maybe, Capital should focus on bringing new customers into it's core beers rather than trying to brew a big IPA. But, that's a business decision for them, but I'm sure they're not hurting.

It's absolutely ridiculous to compare New Glarus or Capital breweries with Lagunitas. I tried the New Glarus IIPA last night, and I suspected the dry hop was Simcoe, but, I couldn't be 100%, and I checked the label on the bottle, and it said, "local hops." And, that's an important thing to read. I grow hops in my backyard, and though they're standard varieties, they taste different than west-coast grown hops. I brew a beer every year, 100% hopped with fresh hops from my garden, picked while mashing, weighed, and chucked in the brew kettle. The drought last summer did lead to a beer that was not as good as last year's. (for the record, I grow all kinds of hops, but the only kind I can get to flower are Chinooks and Sterlings, both pretty healthy hybrids suited well for this climate and the various diseases/bugs, whereas I'm not sure how well citra etc. can be grown around here.)

If you're going to support local breweries, you have to be prepared to support the entire network, including the hop growers! And, New Glarus and Capital both espouse supporting local ag. (so does Lakefront for that matter, but, I see they hop their IPA with Chinook and Cascade, Chinook can be grown quite well around here, I live in Waukegan, and our climate and growing conditions should be similar to what is local around Milwaukee). Laguintas is going to be brewed with West Coast hops. You have to taste the prominent Wisconsin beers with the knowlege that hops were most likely grown locally. And, the particular flavors are going to be different, bitterness slightly different (particularly if they're not measuring the acid content of each season's harvest, and just using a default measurment, don't know, could be wrong on that, but that's my guess).

And, just accept it and not try to make unfair comparisons with west coast beers. If you want west coast beers, make a trip of it, that's what makes the beer world interesting.

So a 12 pack of cans is $10.50 right now at Roundy's. That is hard to pass up for a nice budget IPA.

True, but I'd rather pay a few more bucks to get a 12-can-pack of SNPA ($14). It drinks incredibly well in this weather, has a cleaner taste too.

Sure, destroy the Earth with your west coast beer that has to be shipped 2,000 miles, I'd much rather try to keep it local.
Mostly kidding, but I guess I do find my self thinking that way and when you are on a budget, every dollar can make a difference.

If potosi would just bottle their tangerine IPA I would give myself alcohol poisoning drinking it. Its amazingly good looking forward to drinking it at great taste again this year.

Never thought about that, I'm not one to think about these things. Still, it's here and I definitely prefer it to Mutiny.
