The other day I bought a bottle of Capt. Larry Captain's Reserve IPA. I chilled it, opened it and was very dissappointed with my first sip. I should have taken a look at the bottle before I purchased it because it had the Pleasantville address on it and if I had done so, it would have stayed on the shelf. But I finally get how the hop flavors, etc. fade because I had the same beer on tap later that night and it was just like it should be - bursting with hoppiness. Other than the writing on the bottles, does anyone know whether Capt. Lawrence puts dates on their beers? And if so, where? I have checked the popular lists of brewers who put dates on their beers and Capt. isn't on it.

Just bought some Fresh Chester Pale Ale and ran into the same problem. Address is in Elmsford. Do they not bottle date/code?

That I don't know but the brewery is not listed on any bottle dating list I have seen. I guess the only way to find out is to call or go to the brewery and ask.

No bottle dates that I know of,but I can tell you that when I see a fresh bottle of CL IIPA the bottom of the bottle is nice and clear.Older bottles will have a certain amount of sediment build up.Thats how I do my own determination of roughly how old I.P.A.'s are.

    Cheers
