I think captain's daughter is just as good as sip of sunshine, therefore I think it deserves its own lookout thread in Ct.

It isn't and it's wildly inconsistent. Half of the batches they release taste like butter.

Captain's Daughter is just as hard to find and for some it tastes better than Gandhi and Sip. I also happen to think the last batch of Coriolis tasted better than FBD.

Some wines have a butter taste to them and I enjoy it.

It's not a desirable flavor to this degree, it's a sign of mistakes in the brewing process & an issue with the batch.

It's excellent, but comparing it to SoS or Bot is borderline laughable.

I haven't had a batch with the diacetyl flavor. 6/8/15 batch of Sip isn't as good as previous batches, so I am not laughing comparing Captain's and Sip.

I had Captain's Daughter next to a 6/8 Sip on Saturday and it definitely wasn't laughable. Captain may have actually been victorious. Deeper and more complex.

Does anyone know how often they brew or when they typically release it? Would be nice to get to the packy in a reasonable amount of time so it's not gone before I get there.

Been a long time since I've seen any Captains's Daughter in cans the greater Hartford area.

3 of the 6 batches I've had were butter bombs, search the forums, it's a widespread issue.

And I'm not hating here, it's nice when it isn't a butter bomb. Another good DIPA available in CT is definitely a good thing, but they've got quality control issues that need to be addressed for what is ultimately a pricey 4 pack of 12oz cans.

This is a great point, thanks for the info @HeyHayward. Big time quality issues like this need to be addressed, we can't be hyping them up and having another "hidden in the back handshake deal" for a beer that has a chance of being a disaster. Say what you want about comparing it to Gandhi or Sip, people's tastes and preferences are different, but at least we don't hear about quality issues with them.

It shows up at Crazy Bruce's about every other Friday or so. Sometimes they have a limit of one 4 pk per person. I believe it's $10.99.
