So you guys have seen these glasses that have etching on the inner bottom to "help release carbonation" right? Well, I didn't think before pouring this highly carbonated Duvel into one of these glasses. Poured it as smooth as I possibly could. It sat for a minute or two and this is what I got. Thought it was pretty wild and thought I'd share. It just kept growing and growing.
Haha I knew that was coming. All my snifters and tulips are in the dishwasher. Had a 21-year vertical tasting of Dark Lord yesterday
My personal favorite is the 2001 "New Millennium" Dark Lord - it was the last batch brewed before the brewery burned down.
To be fair, Duvel has one of the most ridiculously impressive heads regardless of glassware. You need a control.
Begian beers are meant to have a higher carbonation level than most beer, bordering on champagne like in effervescence. Here's a little reference material http://www.bjcp.org/2008styles/style18.php
I hate shaker pints to drink out of, but I do happen to like collecting cool looking glasses. I have some great pint glasses, and snifter, and Teku's.
