A buddy is moving back to MN from Lakeland and is kindly picking me up a package from what seems to be a store with a better selection in the area. Obviously getting lots of Jai Alai. Want to try Coppertail Freeride and really hoping for some selections from Funky Buddha.
Can anyone offer some ideas of the better local brews available? Possibly some seasonal goodies or must-haves that I'm missing out on? My tastes tend to veer toward pales/IPAs/IIPAs, Imp stouts and sours.
My friend really doesn't drink so isn't any help on recommendations so where else better to turn than BA?
    Cheers!

I still see cigar city cow boss on the shelves. And coppertail unholy.

There's a really awesome bottle shop in Brandon, it's right next to lakeland. This is where i go to get all my stuff. It would be an easy one stop for your friend. They have beer from all over the south including the funky buddha, cigar city and coppertail. Its called the craft beer cellar. I would also pick up a bottle of funky buddha blueberry cobbler ale.

The only place in Lakeland that has Coppertail Free Dive is ABC. Ive seen it at the N Lakeland store but dont know if the one on the South Side has it.

If your buddy can go to the Craft Beer Cellar in Brandon, I recommend he pick up some Reef Donkey APA by Tampa Bay Brewing Co. Also CCB Invasion APA sounds right up your alley.

The only Funky Buddha stuff that is around, is Hop Gun and recently I've seen the Blueberry Cobbler at places like ABC and even Fresh Markets. I see these in Tampa now, so I assume they made it out to Brandon area. Niether is fantastic, as Funky Buddha's wheelhouse is their Porters, but they are available.

Thanks all! I'll write all these down. I'm planning to order from ABC on the N side of Lakeland as he drives past it to work every day. It may take a larger mule fee to get him to go to Brandon!

I also see that Jester King has limited distro in FL. I know the chances are slim to none but does JK hit that area?

About a year ago I bought a bottle of JK Le Petite Prince here in St Pete. I haven't seen any JK in this area since then, though they are still listed as being distributed here.

The south side ABC generally has a better selection. Have your friend check out Beer Revolution and Brew Hub too. Brew Hub may have Psuedo Sue soon. Tuckers Southside is my go to beer store in Lakeland, talk to Jamie aka the beer mistress.

He can get you Funky Buddha's Blueberry Cobbler and More Mora on top of Hop Gun. None of which are great but are available to try.

Also on the shelves that might be of note:
Dogfish Head World Wide Stout & Raisen d'Extra
    CCB Cow Boss
Cascade bottles, I believe Kriek is still at Brew Hub
    Brew Hub Sinkhole stout
Bruery bottles *nothing great, but likely Tart of Darkness & Oude de Tart
Terrapin's new Peanut Butter & Jelly porter

Just send me some Todd the Axeman when it comes out for a finders fee! :grinning:

Coppertail's night swim is probably one of the better porters i've had.

The Beer Revolution bottle shop at 2972 Lakeland Highland Rd. They also have 6 growler taps. They had a lot of local stuff plus PAA .

Thanks again all. Got nowhere with ABC. Going to place an order with Beer Revolution - talked with Mike and he was extremely helpful.
