I too just had my first, yesterday... Friday found myself in NJ for a holiday party, so mapped out a route to look for some Carton - no luck at the first two stops, but Joe Canal's in Mt. Ephraim had both 077XX and Boat in their fridge... I've had and enjoyed Boat quite a few times, so I just grabbed two 4's of O Dub. Couldn't find a canning date on it, but it is still damn tasty, nice to have around over the long vacation!

I believe Carton has an agreement with their retailers that the beer must be stored cold at all times. Each time I've purchased Carton brews, they have been cold.

So even without a date, you can probably be assured that the beer has been stored properly.

Yeah, they do... and cold transport home to the fridge was easily attainable as well ;-)

And 077xx never sits and usually is distributed every 2 or 3 weeks. So its never older than that

Found 077XX and Boat in the Wegmans by Kane. They had a ton. The boat was the same price but 077XX was actually a dollar cheaper than at the brewery. Thought that was odd.

Would the Joe Canal's Woodbridge have the best chances for Boat beer (cans) in/near Middlesex County? I also see an SRI Liquors of South Plainfield listed on the Carton site.

Joe Canals in Woodbridge would be a good place to check. They had both 077xx and Boat available when I was there on Saturday.

On tap at the Black Sheep Ale House in Mineola for all you Long Islanders. First time I've ever seen it over here.

@augiecarton I appreciate the details of your distribution arrangement which I was not previously familiar with. Some stores follow the arrangements and some do not. For example, one local store keeps highly sought after arrivals in the "back room," but O dub is always right there in the fridge next to boat. Nice to know they follow arrangements where they should be.

A different store however which I heard had a reputation of keeping beers in the "back room" does not follow the arrangement. I saw boat in the fridge and asked if they had any other Carton beers. The salesman told me they had O dub in the back of the fridge and got a four pack for me. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that it just arrived and was not unpacked, but my gut tells me no.

I have off on Monday, and plan on driving across to Jersey from Philly. Anywhere right across the river where I can grab some, right outside of Philly?

Sometimes Roger Wilco in Pennsauken has it, but you should probably check. Canal's in West Deptford has it sometimes, but again you should probably check before driving there.

Also Canal's Mt Ephraim is worth a check.
