Carton Brewing (2020)

Whaler sounds delicious. Also this Masshole appreciates the nod to Boston Whalers. Great boats.

 

yeah, I really want to try this one... not sure if hitting distro on not, but I may be in the Carton area this weekend...

 

Peir-t is a super super tasty beer. Ive always enjoyed lime in beer so I’m not surprised. But as most carton beers are it’s super balanced and it’s just enough lime to remind you it’s there. Good stuff.

 

Went down to Sandy Hook in Monday to walk around some. Very nice day and no one was right on top of anyone else, which I appreciated. Thought about stopping by Carton but at the last minute bailed because I still had a lot of beer at home. Of course I regretted it immediately.

 

Home delivery?

 

I really hate to be that guy, but @augiecarton was the batch for Whaler pretty sizeable or was it a smaller batch? I want to drive up to the brewery this weekend to buy some but since our delivery date is on Tuesday it'd be a whole lot more convenient (~3hr round trip) to have a bunch of Carton delivered to my door. Any chance this makes it til Tuesday?

 

Not this week. There’s always next week.

 

i can't say but i hope it will last at least a week. you know we try to plan batch sizes to make it through two weekends, and we usually do pretty well. some is going out to stores as well

past 3 IPAs I've picked up - the All Together, most recent Wedge Issue (first one was just as good if not better) and now Whaler have all been excellent. I really miss goin there for a flight.

 

I second this motion with All Together and the Wedge Issue. I haven't had the whaler so I'm excited to try it.

 

Has anyone seen Whaler in Morris county? Tried untappd and beer menus with no joy. I was going to order from the online store but it looks like it sold out yesterday.

+1, haven't seen at my usual shops that get Carton... some definitely went out to retailers around the state, but not sure how far and wide. Seems delivery in the region is today (Wednesday), so maybe with some luck distro shares a schedule with home delivery and we will see some?

 

Not whaler but new IPA today. In video he said its basically the double version of beach, seems like a good replacement. Make that order haha.

 

Some drama in that new announcement on IG, folks asking about Carton's stance on BLM had their comments deleted. A lot of breweries I follow either did the blackout yesterday or better, donated to a related cause (Troon, EQ). I didn't really think anything of Carton not posting anything yesterday until today's deletion of BLM questions on IG. I'm hoping it's just an oversight on whoever is running the IG account and not a statement of Carton's beliefs; it would be a shame to walk away from their beers after all these years.

Edit: they posted a link to an article about "how blackout tuesday went wrong" and didn't address the deleted comments, or the direct question on BLM.

 

They added more comments:
"we believed going dark yesterday and posting nothing, our traditional posts or otherwise was respectful of the intentions to make room for the best voices to be heard. The current looks at yesterday suggest that was a valid decision. We stand by it. If you want to know the millions of feelings I have on these topics I’m happy to engage in person over a beer but assuming you know because I consciously chose to filter us out of the way of an important conversation isn’t really a conversation and conversation is what we are here for"

It's a bit wordy but I appreciate the offer of discussing it directly. Now if we could just get the tap rooms re-opened.

 

Anyone have an issue with the hook oxidation issues? I bought these from the brewery and are pouring literally dark brown and are awfully bitter.

The standard one. Canned late march, picked up at the brewery. Definitely something wrong, I had to drain pour.
