The guy told me that they keep it in a cooler in the back since they have so little of it so they only sell it to people who are specifically looking for it. He gladly sells it to anyone who asks though, so it's not like they're holding it for certain people.

A buddy of mine also had great things to say about the brewery. It's definitely on my bucket list to make the drive down.

i suck at the internet. this was meant not to be in the middle of that but rather a response: thanks for the heads up guys...

truth is the "in the back" thing is not a huge deal, as long as everyone that asks gets it. that being said it's not what we ask for. the last thing we want is our beers being cherished or treated as special. its just beer and anyone walking in that store should have a shot to decide they want to try it or want to have it again. for that to happen it has to be in the fridge just like any other. i appreciate you guys filling me in and i will handle this, thank you.

Yeah I hate having to ask for a certain beer, it's like having to ask for a key for the bathroom. If I have to go I should just be able to go, and if I want a beer I should just be able to grab it off the shelf myself!

It was about 2 years ago I stumbled upon Boat in the fridge at the liquor store, decided to buy it and now I'm at the brewery a few times a month. If that beer was hidden in the back, who knows how long it would've been since I discovered Carton.

It's the person that would buy the 2 cases or whatever of 0dub in one shot that causes it. I don't mind it. I think it's a pretty safe bet each of us have our regular beer stores that we frequent and know the manager and the beers they get so it's not a big deal to ask. Better than showing up ten minutes after one person took every 4pk from the cooler.

Seems like those are two separate problems - beer in the back is one thing, but if the demand is so high, just limit it! Canals Woodbridge used to try to hide their Carton stuff in the back, but let one guy buy a case of dub. It made my head hurt, trying to justify. Hype beer? 4pk limits!

Sorry if I offended, only meant to say "in demand" beer or "popular" beer.

Then you have to know that every employee knows that. There's a pretty good beer store where I work in Bridgewater. Last year I stopped in because I knew they were getting a case of Lunch in from Maine. Got there and it was in a box in the beer aisle. I knew it was 1/pp but to humor myself I asked someone there and they said as many as you want. :grinning: I took a bottle and told their beer manager it was sitting out in the open and he went and got it.

I got a 4pk of each Boat and Odub at Whole Foods Paramus on 9/2. I noticed they updated their beermenu info. Got out of work early and went over there. Asked the guy and was surprised they still had it, but made me happy for the holiday weekend.

In the past, Sept-May, they usually get cans. Sometimes wed, sometimes thur and this was on a friday. I follow Carton's FB page and when the update goes on Wed/Thur, I'll usually check there. I've seen them put it out plenty of times in the past year or two, but seems they mostly keep it in the back. I've gotten SS Cream there as well.

They have a decent selection there so if I get shutout, I can usually find something else. They did have Magnify there as well on 9/2, which was nice to see, although I did not get any.

@augiecarton Care to enlighten us as to the empty lot formerly known as the building on the corner of 1st and East Highland? Noticed a big open space with a trailer and palates of kegs next to it the other day.

the honest answer is it has been all of them over the last 2 years. when i read your question "One Last Time" popped into my head. but last week i took my kids to Monticello so "Cabinet Battle # 1" and "What'd I Miss" was pretty much it till this morning when i said "hey" and winked at a coworker and "A winter's Ball" popped in there.

Good list. Very surprised to not see "The Room Where it Happens" or "Hurricane" in there. I will admit that the beginning of "A Winter's Ball" is so, so good. We're undeniable with the LADIEZZZ!!!!

over the times i've been in the room where it happens i have formed many opinions on how cast performances and changes affect experience. there are a couple truths through all. none are more so than: "The Room Where it Happens" is the strongest song and its performance informs the entire play around it night to night.
it's the broadway number and boy is it powerful. but you drink my beers; you know i am hardly turned on by doing what's been done before, no matter how well your version is executed. for me that score is in all the new turns and cadences and interior rhyme development it does and those are the things that stick when i amble about doing my things.

oh and "we're reliable with the ladies" just sayin

I'm partial to 'My Shot'. Still trying to win the 'lottery' to get to see this play. Heard it enough over the past year and it helped my daughter tremendously in 7th grade. Come on Miranda, make music for the rest of my daughters 8th through 12th grade history!
