Carton near Sandy Hook

    Ok so I have a job interview tomorrow on Sandy Hook and was hoping to pick up some Carton o-dub and Boat cans before heading back to Long Island. I wont have time to stay until 5 when the brewery opens unfortunately, because I really want to visit Carton and Kane. I went on Carton's site to look at their distribution list, and noticed a few places around where I'll be. However, most of them dont have an updated beer list. I will have time to stop by a few places but not all day. Anyone know of places around there where I could grab a few cans in that area? It would be extremely helpful! Thanks!

    I suggest dropping an email or call to Carton. If they are there brewing they might be able to do a quick sale of cans/pre-filled growlers as long as you don't want to hang out.

    It's not in the Sandy Hook area but Joe Canal's in Iselin/Woodbridge is probably on your way as it is right off the GSP. I was there last night and they had 077XX and Boat cans in the cooler. They usually have something Kane and Carton on tap for growler fills too but did not last night, although Alpine Duet is not a bad substitute.

    Thanks! That was going to be one of the places I stopped at on my way out, so good to know they may have some when I arrive.

    You may want to call if that is all you are stopping for as there were just a couple of Boat 4 packs and probably 5 or 6 077XX's in the cooler when i was there around 8 last night.

    Just got out of the interview. Gonna head back to NY after checking a few stores. Phones gonna die unfortunately and I wont have a map to follow. Might be shit out of luck.

    Try Gateway liqours on Route 36. They sometimes get it and its close.

    So I stopped at Gateway since I drove right past it and they said they hadnt gotten cans in about 2 weeks. Went to Scenic Liquors off 36 and got 2 4-packs of boat and a growler fill of o-dub. All I wanted so my search ended there.

    The lady at Scenic said Carton hasn't been able to can lately because it is too cold and the company they can with does it outside. Any truth to this?

    Sounds legit to me because they do use a mobile canning operation.

    Yea she seemed like she was in contact with the brewery and was relaying info. Very nice lady. Was just wondering if the cold was actually the reason.

    I'm pretty sure that is not true. They can inside even given the space constraints and the mobile canning...maybe she just thinks that because she was told it's mobile canning? The limited canning is more due to canning regular coffee last time around than anything else IMO. They last canned o'dub and boat on the 12th I believe and should be back to the regular schedule of once I month I bet. But like others have said Auggie would know best.

    I got cans of boat and 077 in NJ 2ce this week...and they are definately fresh
    no way they are canning outside...board of health doesn't like stuff like that

    we can in (inside) our brewery once a month. the last was 2/12 so that's when gateway got them, probably that day. it sells out, we are working on it.

    Court liquor store in long branch (10 min drive ocean ave) had fresh boat and O-dub Friday night. Worth the trip.

    If court doesn't have them another 5-7 min south. Wegmans in ocean usually has them both also.
