on the navesink river that would make you considered a "good fisherman" it was a debacle when you pulled up a sally growler

I'm excited to try the cafe y churro and might try to snag a growler fill if it lasts until next weekend.

My wife makes a French Toast casserole for holidays and special occasions that I always have with my coffee. I'm kind of hoping the cafe y churro takes me to that place!

A sally growler is the first fish I ever caught on the Navesink way back when. Nasty fish with no reward, but fun to battle.

To stay on topic, the Churro is so good. I dont like overly sweet beers typically, but I guess there is always an exception?

Haha yea i guess they are different. Sea Robins definitely bark though.

I think this line wins for its amazing accent presentation:
"I don't blame a hard crab nor a Sally Growler fer tryin' to eat a sof' crab; 'tis nateral. I'd do it myself!"

Havent tried any of my irregulars yet, picking up some regular today. Looking forward to waiting out the storm with all of them.

I'm by no means a fisherman, but the handful of times I went fluking with my grandfather I remember catching a ton of the fish on the bottom. I think we called them sea robins though, but it's most definitely what you pictured a sally growler. I was always so pissed we couldn't keep it (I obv didn't know better as a kid). That and skate were my nemesis

erry body wants to et a sof' crab... cause they are delicious. if i could tell you how many of my childhood days were spent rotating hard/tin-y/soft crabs through a pot my friends dad use to keep in clay pit creek just so our parents could tempura a ton of them on a couple hedonistic summer friday nights... ah...

Anyone find any Regular Coffee in SJ? I know @augiecarton was hoping to finish up distro today, but still none in Atlantic County. At least where I've checked.

IMO Churro's cinnamon/vanilla combo actually tempers the sweetness found in Regular Coffee. I know that sounds like it shouldn't make sense...just that all the flavors create a smooth and tasty combination.

I'm a native LIer - I've caught tons of gnarly sea robins back in the day and I remember them looking more like the one on the bottom. Maybe it was the result of the runoff from the landfill over there in Oceanside/Oil City.

EDIT: after further research maybe you're right. Pretty annoying to catch either way. Those were the hardest pulling fish.

Glad to see lots of Churro x Irish cans - and since I haven't seen it, let me be the first to say here, the Irish seems to be toned down somewhat in the mint and is balanced really, really nicely. Not to say last year's was bad in any way, but this year's seems even better. I am biased to like cinnamon vanilla beers, I'm a big fan of the style, so adding it to one of my all time favorite Carton beers makes me biased to love it . . . but the Irish is even better, still!

Seems like Irregular cans are lasting a long time - wish I could have gotten more Regular cans too - they're the best of the 3 IMO. The OG. No sweat, growler fills for a little while and tap takeovers.

As far as distro goes, what places near you are sold out, and which (if any) are still waiting for Regular cans? Canals Iselin/Woodbridge and Shrewsbury Wine and Liquors are sold out. Buy Rite North Plainfield has 1 or 2 can limits @ $4.99.ea as of 5pm 1/21. No idea how much they have, though.

Would love to hear about growlers as well. Besides the tap room of course.
