Carton Shipwreck Porter

    Any love for this one?

    It's is a honey porter aged in 4 year old rum barrels from a local (NJ) rum distributor for a year. Talked to a brewer at the brewery and it it capped and waxed at 10% and should age well.

    Thoughts in it? Has anyone has it? I have my allotment of 3 and will be trying one tonight.

    It was tasty in draft the day of they release. You could definitely taste the barrel-aging and the alcohol was definitely present. I have yet to open a bottle.

    Its very tasty IMO, huge barrel and rum smell slaps you in the face, alcohol warmth down the throat, but still very smooth.

    Do they still have these at the brewery? I was going down this past weekend before I blew a flat in Asbury and decided to just go home after Kane.

    Loved the glass I had at Bierkraft for the Carton takeover last week.

    Went to the brewery this weekend and they had plenty available. I grabbed one and plan to let it sit for at least a year.

    Carton is doing some great things. Just opened one of mine and really enjoyed it. Got lots of molasses with notes of vanilla. Going to sit on the others and see what they do.
