The waste is extremely high with stainless steel growlers. The only way to tell if the growler is full is to wait until the beer cascades over the top. For beers with more head than others this results in a lot of product spilled down the drain to ensure the growler is filled.

Stone will fill Stainless obviously they're selling them (I believe there is or will be a punch card, fill the punch card get the money back from the cost of your growler (have to fill their growler that many times)). I have a Brauler which Stone will fill, I confirmed with Ed as he also has and loves one. Nova will not sill Stainless because they can't tell when it's full supposedly they say. So I just go to Stone or locally here Barley Johns they fill my Brauler np (got it at Canal Park in Duluth) I love the over the shoulder koozy it has with it.

The program we have in place is we will fill any growler, yours, theirs, his, hers or you can buy one of our Stone Tap Stainless Steel growlers for $30 and we give you the first fill for free (within reason of course, no Speedway Stout) If anyone has specific ?'s feel free to BM me.

You stated earlier that you hoped to have Toppling Goliath by the end of the month, how is that looking?

They will fill 32oz growlers but I'm not positive they will only charge 1/2 price if you only fill 1. If you fill 2 they will charge for 64oz fill

What constitutes a 32oz growler? Do 32oz swing top home brew bottles work? Thats about all I got.

Yeah basically that's what they are. Dave's Brewfarm uses them.

    Here's a pic of one:

They said they did for a little while, but no longer will. Management decision.

There are actually a lot of options that fall under this category. I've got a few different types (plastic, glass stubby and a swingtop like above).

I was surprised to run into this issue at Casanova along with a few MN breweries stating that they had no plans to offer smaller sized growlers. Given how common 32 oz growlers are in other parts of the country, I'd say it's only a matter of time before somone around here decides to offer and/or fill them, and the rest follow suit. There is definitely a demand for this size, we just need to get the point across.

It is a legal issue in Minnesota. Currently the law only considers 64oz and 750ml size vessels as "growlers". So until this is changed, these will be the only sizes that breweries will be able to sell directly to consumers.

At the Nova it makes no sense.

Strange. Anyone know if changes to this law have been considered by the MN beer advocacy groups (Save The Growler, etc.)? Not that they don't have bigger issues to address.

Based on the Nova's twitter feed(s), it looks like Sue is usually always available in growlers as well as a couple other TG brews here and there. Just curious to know from the locals/regulars of the Nova if this is pretty accurate?
