Did the $33 for Elderberry when I saw it in a store in NC recently, cringed...saw Bourbonic Plague on craftshack for $54.99....while I love to try new brews...no chance in hell at that price

The retailers have effectively priced me out at that point

Bourbonic Plague is damn good, but $36 at the pub is tough. My friend picked me up a few bottles recently from Cascade, I was happy to get Gose for $15 and Figaro for $25. Of course, Gose showed up in the Bay a couple months later with a $25 tag. They are definitely becoming shelf turds with prices like that, especially with the close proximity of SARA, RR, and Rare Barrel (not the cheapest either of course.)

I have only been able to find one website that sells Cascade for a price anywhere close to what it costs at the brewery (or when the brewery could still ship beer). I was able to get two bottles of Bourbonic Plague for $60. All the other websites charge $10+ more per bottle it seems.

Cascades have always been prices high in the sour category. With the recent stopping of shipping I think stores suspect they can charge more now.

As for Bruery, their standard sours are actually priced pretty low in comparison. The sour/stout blends tend to be higher, but the regular sitr, Filmishmish, ect are great choices at 20 a 750ml. Even cheaper if your a member, 15.99 a pop at HS discount.

I recently bought one from CraftShack because I haven't had it yet. This will be my one and only bottle of bourbonic plague at that price. It's worth it to try it once, I hope.

I for one quite love Cascade's sours - at least those that I've had.

If this beer is truly overpriced in an economic sense, then we can expect to see the price go down in the coming months.

    Vote with your dollar...

I pulled the trigger once over a year ago. I forget which one it was, I think Vlad the Imp Aler or Figaro. Back then I dropped aroung $26 and said "Never again." Damn good beer, but...

Any sour that's more expensive than Cantillon Gueuze is overpriced. Sadly, many, many AWA's fit this description.

Of course, that could also mean Cantillon is underpriced... but you didn't hear that from me!
