Are there such IPA's? I believe Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale is single hop, but not really sure. Do they blend in other hops in there? I love this hop profile. Just wondering if there are IPA's brewed solely with Cascade hops.

Cascade is a low alpha acid hop, making it tougher to use in an IPA...meaning breweries have to use a lot more of it compared to other popular higher alpha acid hops (Centennial, Citra, etc) to get the same bittering effect, so it isn't as cost effective, making it less popular in the market. Cascade is an "old school" hop almost at this point, its been used over and over again in craft beer for years years and has now been overshadowed by the newer varieties of hops. Cascade is a great hop, works great in a lighter pale ale that's not trying to be too bitter, but its not one of my favorites for a single hop IPA.

SNPA is not a single hop beer. Look it up on the SN website.

Southern Tier's C Ration case proved your point perfectly about cascade hops.

I can't quite recall the beer, but I had a single cascade APA from Hills Farmstead that was awesome. ABV was around 5.5%. Don't quite know if there are IPA's brewed with just cascade hops.

If you are interested in drinking single hopped beers, there is a list of those beers. BA jackbear maintains an online list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsZLUtUXjy6ZdGZqaVRsV1J4c0tabnVlOVdFY05wdmc&usp=sharing

For Cascade I would recommend Anchor Liberty Ale.

    Cheers!

Full Pint - Night of the Living Stout is single hopped with Cascade, and its over 100 ibus. It's hoppy as fuck and quite delicious. Not technically an IPA, but it's hoppier than any black IPA I've ever had.

Station 26 in Denver recently brewed one and I found it to be excellent. I expected something along the lines of a kicked up SNPA, but their additions were timed so that the beer tasted decidedly "new school." At the same time, it had that distinct cascade pine punch. I'm very much interested in larger production breweries giving something like this a try.

They have a new single hop APA simply called Cascade Pale Ale. Sounds like you're thinking of a different one though.

SNPA hop flavor comes from Cascade only. A couple of other hops are used for bittering, not flavor.
