Kind of a bummer they chose to get a middle man involved (distribution). Was really hoping being a consistent customer of them mail orderwise, that this would be available online, but oh well.

Some are forced to be part of the three tier distribution system, some choose to be part of a system that raises the bottom line price wise for customers.

That doesn't necessarily follow, they might have hand-delivered it to local places the way RR did with FfaC. And they may not have had enough for an online release (who knows how much those sell).

Fortunately a buddy was up there and bought me one! Hurray Steve!

True. . . but more often than not, it does.

Extrapolating from the previous distribution footprint, the most likely recipients are places like Belmont Station that have been very good customers for Cascade. I doubt this makes it outside Portland, except maybe to Bottleworks/Brouwers. Otherwise, prices will only be about one -two dollar(s) more than at the Barrel House.

Just spoke to a tipsy Ron. Supply is expected to last about one more week.

    Did he confirm distribution?

If you or anyone can confirm where/when they land, I would appreciate it. I have a buddy I'm camping with next week passing through Portland. . . despite me ordering & holding Moas & driving to Santa Rosa to get pte for him, he said he might not be able to stop by the barrel house for me (chincy of him frankly) . . . so any other options to present where he could pick them up will go a long way in determining whether the beer favors thing with him is a one way street. . .

Except for California, where it's illegal, Cascade distributes themselves.

The place I know of that's getting some is well out of the area in WA and not part of the Seattle scene. So it's getting far more distro than that. No idea on any of the Matt's ventures, but this is heading further north to a relatively new shop in WA.

Huh, plenty of places self-distribute here. Is it illegal for out-of-state breweries to self-distribute in CA?

You are mis-informed. Kegs to bars maybe, but not bottles to stores.

I was under the distinct impression that RR self-distributes. Right here it says that the distributor for the Bay Area is "Russian River Brewing Company": http://russianriverbrewing.com/where-to-get-our-beers/

They might have picked up a case or two from the barrel house to resell.

*Edit - which is totally legal if Cascade has a license to sell in Washington (which they do) and the buyer has a copy of the resellers permit for the state of Washington (which I'm assuming they do if they are open for business).

    Nope, contracted through the brewery.

You are mis-informed. I own a bar/bottleshop in Cali and I can tell you without a doubt that breweries can self-distribute both bottles and kegs...
