This may have a lot to do with Oregon, since I believe their ABC would be the one responsible for putting pressure on Cascade. I don't think we have to worry too much, unless California follows suit- plenty of good shops shipping from CA.

And it is possible that breweries would face more pressure to not sell online than bottle shops- after all, brewery-to-individual bypasses a whole lot of people who make a whole lot of money on the (ridiculous) three-tier system. Could have been a distributor ratting them out, or a shop owner somewhere, or another brewery.

Anyone know why Cascade is not shipping anymore?

My guess is it was illegal. Or something like that...

Did Cascade use UPS? Could be the same reason letspour recently stopped shipping...

Pretty sure Letspour was a straight up business decision.

ABC laws are tougher on breweries shipping than they are on shops.

Honestly this makes me sad. I didn't know you could order them and now I won't have the chance. How's their lineup of beers?

We talked to them just a few days before and a few days after the policy change about it and nobody at the Barrel House had a definite answer. My thoughts are that the laws for shipping beers to each state are so different that they decided to stop all together instead of of trying to jump through 50 different hoops to keep shipping. The cheapest beer (all 750 ml) was $25 and most expensive was $30. My buddies flew back to Atlanta yesterday and took 6 bottles with them in their checked baggage. Their beers are amazing and I'm not even a sour fan! One of the best reasons to travel to Portlandia...besides to just keep it weird

Certain states have laws that straight up make it illegal to ship beer to. I'm actually surprised they were able to do it at all, most other places that ship beer will limit the states they will accept orders from. Seriously bummed about it, I was only able to get one order in a month ago and I've loved everything I've tried.

From an international perspective, it's even crazier. I once had a German brewery owner tell me that shipping to the US is like shipping to 50 countries. These days importers have templates that cover laws in all states that allows them to print labels that work everywhere.

Yea, head this last night from the local bottle shop I purchased my last Apricot from. I can't speak for all States but in NC, you can't purchase beer and ship it into the state unless it goes through a distributor or is manufactured in NC, period. Goes for Wine as well. Obviously, folks skirt the law. It is too bad.

Hello, I wanted to respond so that there is no misconception or rumors going around. We (Cascade Brewing) sell very little of our beer in our own town. #1 we have our own sources, Raccoon Lodge and the Barrel House and #2 we sell so much draft at our pubs that we do not have enough to go around. We are still making beer out of a 10bbl system.
Hope that clears things up a little.

    You are partly correct.
I am in the process of going state by state trying to find a state we can ship to. Unfortunately most states to don’t allow beer to be shipped from a brewery to a consumer. WE are still working on resolving this issue.
