$20 pre-order tickets for the Oct release. No more sleeping in cars overnight. Great response by Casey imo.

Just a heads up. Small Batch Liquors should still have some Casey left (East Bank and Cherry fruit stand). And Mile High in Belmar also had some East Bank left as well. Just in case you decide you need to try these.

$20 and you are guarenteed a certain amount? And you get $20 off your order?

(I would go to the website but it set off my anti-virus last time)

Guaranteed the bottle limits for the month. Your 20 is donated to charity. Better than showing up at 5am for an 11am release of driving up and getting nothing imo. It does open it up for more out of state people though.

    I like it.

Until I miss out on one of the tickets...

All around, I think it's a great idea.

At first I was concerned about out-of-staters swarming for tickets without regard to the "you'll miss the next release if you take a ticket and don't show up" rule. But after giving it some thought, I doubt out-of-towners would be able to easily coordinate a flight/road trip with only 3 days notice before the release.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I like it. It will be harder for out of towners who want to plan a trip around it without knowing if they'll get a ticket, but you can't please everyone, and erring on the side of favoring locals is A-OK in my book

I know several people out-of-state that have had people go or at least willing to go (until they heard about the wait). So I still think there will be several tickets bought that will go to people that never had any intention of ever going themselves but can now get a local friend go that won't have to wait in line.

I like the idea. Guess we'll see how it plays out for a couple of months and what tweaks Troy comes up with if they are needed.

Actually, it's not that difficult =) Plus, if I would plan ahead and not get a ticket it doesn't mean I couldn't enjoy plenty of draft and other beer in the area over the weekend. I don't go up there to bring it back to trade so it that doesn't bother me. Unfortunately, it's not in the cards for me this month. Made the past 2 and for the sake of my marriage I'll sit this one out which means probably won't go until Spring. :slight_frown:

Overall, I like the idea and I do agree that erring on the side of locals is best. Locals support the business and will always be there so you should do what you can to make them happy.

Hmm...that's interesting. But then if the Colorado friend also grabs a ticket , how does Troy deal with that double-up?

Also, do you read this as a lottery on BPT, or do the first 198 people to register on BPT get the tickets (or significantly less since you can get two tickets per person)?

While I'm not much of a fan of sour beers, I am glad I got a chance to try what was being poured at Rare Beer.

Fairly tart/fruity/complex.. A great brake/pallet cleanse from all the world class BA stouts I was hammering!

On brown paper tickets it will be the first 198 people that buy tickets starting at 10am, that will get tickets

You can't double up. Troy said you can only pick up one allotment and a name on the ticket has to match the person picking up the bottles.

I read it as the 198 tickets will be sold and those are the ones who get bottles. I'm assuming there will be a few people who buy tickets and then can't make it so at 3pm there might be allotments for sale to the people who just showed up to drink

Actually it can be the first 99 people who buy tickets since you can get two tickets with each purchase. You just need a 2nd name when making the purchase.

There's a "99 problems" joke in there somewhere.

Regardless of the BPT buying outcome, this is a step in the right direction. I knew Troy would change it up somehow. This sounds like the best he could possibly do on such short notice, especially given GABF and everything else.

I'm just happy that I don't have to worry about waking up at 3 AM to go and still have to worry about not being there in time to get the bottles being released because of a line of chairs...

Anytime I get tickets and make it up there for a release in the future, it'll be a nice, relaxed day in the mountains...

Name on ticket must match i.d. of buyer is what makes this work well, in my opinion.

Really excited to not have to wake up at 3:30AM.

This. I didn't like the idea of getting up so early and possibly making the drive for nothing. Now I can leave whenever and make it a pleasant day out of it instead of leaving in the dark. Assuming I can get a ticket of course

Plus with bpt ticket sales benefiting charity, Troy will have donated almost $4,000 to charity at this event alone. If he continues this method in a year he will have donated near $50,000. That's commendable!

Although I am grumpy about this cutting into my Autumn Chair Yard Sale inventory, I love it. It will likely be swarmed for tickets (imagine all the folks who didn't previously risk the drive, local or otherwise, that now will have a guarantee), but it falls in line with one of my favorite things about Troy. From day one, he has expressed his intention for us to enjoy the valley as much as possible in conjunction with visiting for his great beers. The ability to show up even in early afternoon (thus missing most ski traffic) makes the trip reasonable even in winter. My tune will change in private when I miss tickets, but my objective opinion is BRAVO!
