It's been a while since having a nice pulled pint and I missed the Real Ale Fest this year. Anyone know of a brewpub or brewery in CT that pours cask ales frequently. I read an article about a place in Ridgefield doing god's work and starting to keep a cask on regularly but that's pretty far from where I live and travel for work.
I’m pretty sure Firefly Hollow regularly has a cask on, especially on Fridays But yeah, cask sightings are rare these days
Thanks that's great news. The pic on google maps actually chows a cask sitting on the bar. cheers. Also it's close to where I cover for work.
Two roads has a Cask Fest coming up. Sounds Pretty Interesting. https://tworoadsbrewing.com/events/view/6170
We have a cask engine with a cask breather here at City Steam in Hartford. Nothing on currently, but I've got a hoppy brown with cherries and vanilla going on Thursday, and my next cask will be a traditional Irish Red.
The place in Ridgefield you're referring to is Nod Hill. They have a cask on from time to time and it's always tasty. Widow Brown's in Danbury, CT gets casks occasionally too, as does My Place in Newtown. NEBCO has upped their cask production going out to bars as well.
Yankee Brew News - Feb./ March 2019..... Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield is developing a cask ale program focused on traditional English-style beers. Brewery has installed a beer engine and dedicated cellar-temp space to properly store and serve its casks and intends to serve predominantly session-strength beers from the hand pump. "Our intention is to honor the cask ale experience to serve a properly conditioned and cellared pint," said co-owner David Kaye, "and bring a little of the U.K. pub vibe to our taproom."
I stopped by a week or so ago on the way to Bradley and had a pint of the hoppy brown on cask and it was really good. Thanks for heads up. My suggestion is to put naughty nurse on cask always between specialty offerings. I mean it is an english bitter anyway and would be awesome I'm sure on cask. Pay a little homage to that tasty beers origins and support real ale in the process! Cheers
Hey guys - this is Dave from Nod Hill Brewery in Ridgefield. We'll have a firkin of 4.1% dry Irish stout served off the handpump this Sunday. From next week on, every Friday afternoon we will tap a cask of something...we plan on sticking to mainly session-strength beers of the bitter, American pale, porter/stout ale varieties. Served at proper cellar temp. Looking forward to meeting some fellow real ale lovers and sharing a few pints!
