Moving to a town near Fresno on Tuesday. Is there any cask ale/real ale in the Central Valley? What about the rest of the state?

Ouch. Not that I can think of. You're lucky there's any craft beer there, it's a new thing in Visalia.

Your best bets in Visalia are Pita Kabob (3 nitro taps) and Sequoia Brewing's taproom (one nitro tap). Hey, better than nothing.

Beer to the People is the only one I can think of in Fresno that had cask beer, and I'm pretty sure they closed recently.

Rest of the state? Sure. More in NorCal than SoCal.

Ummmm, MacLeod Brewing in LA area is all cask, haven't had it. Freewheel near SF is really good and all cask. English Ales Brewery near Monterey, I don't recall them being anything special, could be wrong though.

Late notice, but Tioga-Sequoia in Fresno is serving several cask ales this weekend. Today, they tapped Rush Hour, DDH Sherman, and Cucumbier. Tomorrow, they'll have Sugar Pine, Cafe Tamarack, and presumably any leftover from today. I went today, and thought DDH particularly benefited from the cask, but all three were good. Rush Hour is perhaps the most different from its norm.

Tomorrow was supposed to be Firkin Fest at ApCal in Madera, but it was canceled. I haven't seen any definitive reason why. Unfortunately, ApCal isn't a great venue to begin with, and no one wants to drive out there, so I wouldn't be surprised if it had poor ticket sales. This type of event would be much more successful if it was held in downtown or in the Tower District in Fresno.

Anyway, T-S is getting rid of the casks they had for Firkin Fest now, but keep an eye on House of Pendragon, Mad Duck, Kaweah, and Riley's in the near future. They were all supposed to be there, and may have casks they need to tap.

Going forward in Fresno, Mad Duck sometimes serves casks, and T-S does once in a great while. Firestone Walker casks (usually UDBA) show up at random, at different places. I think Kuni Sama has had some from different breweries. I'm not familiar enough with Visalia to comment much. Pita Kabob is my go-to, but I don't know if they ever have casks.
