From my POV, the "fresh ale" hooey is not something that would revitalize cask ale... it is something that would threaten it. The brewers would state the opposite of course. I wish them no luck.

One of the few locations that carries Coniston (e.g. Bluebird, Old Man) via gravity: One of the finest in the state/nonpareil

Yes, if I found myself in a tap room drinking NEIPA, I'd be looking for a better beer too.

I enjoyed a number of gravity poured lagers at the Logjammin’s event yesterday.

I was able to have a long conversation with Brian O’Reilly (Mainstay Brewing) while enjoying the gravity poured Poplar Pils. I did not take a photo here but below is a ‘stock photo’ from the Philly German Beer Festival a few months ago.

I also enjoyed the Human Robot 10° Keller Pils from a wooden barrel. I spoke to the guy pouring the beer and he told me the barrel was pitch lined and it was built in Bamberg, Germany:

I also wrote up a short ‘trip report’ of the Logjammin’ event which I posted in the NBW thread:

"A handful of northwest breweries seem to be single-handedly resuscitating the European and American pre-prohibition style cask beers served by hand pumps or gravity pours. In Seattle Machine House Brewery has lead the way, in Oregon we had Brewers Union 180 (RIP). But more recently new and old breweries are embracing the method of conditioning and serving beer in its most natural state, unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and alive, just as the brewers intended it" - 2022 Citation

Gentile finally installed a couple engines with Pete’s help. Although, pretty sure Pete didn’t advise them on the accessory. Irrespective, this is a welcomed sight, and one that was long-awaited…

    Sidenotes (Abbreviated):
    • Pete is sending 3 firkins to GABF: one being a Cascadian Dark Ale
      • UK typically prefers the US to send NEIPA (e.g. Small Change). Thus, he likely won’t ship an English ale, but a hopped-up ale to go along with the Cascadian Dark Ale
    • His inclination to host NERAX North will probably be pushed out to 2024, as his spot won’t be ready this year (i.e. November)
    • The Airline collaboration mentioned previously is still being worked on
    • Pete spoke to Paul (@ Gentile) about the sparkler, which has since been removed (i.e. never used / was part of the packaging)
    • Cask Marque Accreditation is looming per Steve to make two unannounced visits
