I’m looking to drink some cask beer in the Boston area tonight. I know Olde Magoun’s and Blackmoor have it. And Cambridge Brewing will starting tomorrow. Any places I’m missing? Thanks!
Try a sample first at Blackmoor and Olde Magoun's. Love both places but I don't think they monitor the casks. If you can swing it (probably not the answer you're looking for) head to Backbeat in Beverly. They run 3-6 casks all the time.
Thanks for the tip. As for Backbeat, their hours say (below). Is that a typo or did they really close at 11am today? TAPROOM OPEN MONDAY 6am-11am/4pm-9pm TUESDAY 6am-11am WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY 6am-10pm SATURDAY 8am-10pm SUNDAY-CLOSED
Huh...I have no idea. They're a coffee spot too (hence the early openings...although I think they serve beer early too...) so maybe they're just open for breakfast on Tuesdays?
Both Remnant and Small Change (at Artifact Cider in Central Square) seemed to be doing regular (monthly?) cask events recently but I don’t see anything on their Instagram for tonight
I ended up hitting up Magoun’s and they had a Stout on cask. Would’ve preferred a bitter or blond but it worked. Seems like some places might be adding casks back slowly, let’s hope the trend continues. In the past, I’ve had cask at Democracy and Trillium as well, but as far as I can tell it’s been years for both.
Do you know if Backbeat is still closed Tuesdays? Hoping to go later today for a beer, but don’t want to make the trip if they’re really closed. I emailed them yesterday but no response.
