I will be driving from Denver to Montana for a bike ride in a few weeks and to cut the drive into two days I have decided to stop in Cheyenne (on the way up) and Casper (on the way back). If I had to visit 1-2 breweries in each city, where should I go? Looking forward to any and all suggestions, thanks everyone. Cheers
I think Freedom's Edge and danielmarks are the only two shows in Cheyenne right now until Accomplice gets their licensing stuff finalized.
Where in Montana? If you make it to Billings, Uberbrew and Carters are where its at with preference to Uberbrew. They should have their Double Black IPA on tap that won Alpha King last year about that time. Im not sure Casper has a legit brewery. Danielmark in Cheyenne isnt bad but is typical of a average small town brewery. Avoid the two here in Sheridan, they are a waste of time.
Casper has Wyoming State Brewing but under a new brewer and his beers are rough to say the least. One that's pretty respectable is his Porter. Only brewery in town until Skull Tree opens up. Could be a Rock Bottom opening if the rumors I've heard pan out. Keg & Cork always has a good list of draughts; they are on the Melvin train.
I thought the same, but noticed he's from CO- wonder if he is just trying to mix it up by checking out what WYO has to offer? Also, OP- if you feel like dropping off a trunkload of Zonker on your way back down 25 (I'm in FOCO)- I would love you forever
Freedom's Edge in Cheyenne is worth a stop in my opinion. They don't have anything mind-blowing, but it's a cool little brewery that will give you a look into the local scene in town. The brewery in the Depot building (which is awesome in its own right and worth a stop), Cheyenne Brewing Company, is not up and running with their own beer yet (as mentioned), but they had some decent pours from their self-serve system. Hopefully they get up and running soon. If you're coming up from Colorado they likely won't have any pours you can't get locally, but The Depot is an interesting building that will be cool once it's filled.
Besides what has already been mentioned, I will add a couple of non-breweries that you could try in Cheyenne. Cool River Wine & Spirits has about 6 taps and rotates them regularly with a varied selection. A growler fill there runs from about $10-18 based on the particular brew. They are the only liquor store in town that has taps, although if you want a drive-through premixed frozen cocktail there are plenty of options for that in Cheyenne. Sanford's Pub & Grill in downtown has a decent number of taps and Old Chicago near Dell Range Blvd usually has a few good options on tap as well. I know the OP asked about breweries, but I thought I would throw out these options as well.
