Hahaha! I'm in a similar boat. It's a really damn good beer, I'd even say great. But we're all fortunate to be alive during a time when there are a LOT of damn good/great available beers. Most of which aren't nearly as elusive or expensive.

It is definitely worth trying for sure. I just wish the maple was more pronounced to set it apart from regular KBS since that is really the only difference between the two. I want that Aunt Jemima taste like a Good Morning from Tree House. Different style I know, but still that one delivered on the maple syrup flavor 110%. Bought two bottles of CBS and I think I'm good with that. Probably wouldn't pick up another even if I stumbled across one.

I've never enjoyed a beer so much yet been equal parts disappointed at the same time. CBS was a unique drinking experience in that regard. Maybe I let the hype get too real, but with its mythical lore and premium price it's hard to curb those lofty expectations.

Thought they would have been charging more like $50. Clearly feeling charitable in the holiday season.

I was surprised to see a couple bottles at Brooklyn Fare last night while getting groceries. Even more so at $24.99!

I grew up with Log Cabin. It took one Vermont trip to understand that my parents were ignorant to real maple syrup.

Um, which counter are we talking about? I stopped in briefly last night (~7:20) and didn't see anything in plain sight around the beer section. Already have a bottle, but wouldn't mind getting another to age.

On the cheese/espresso counter, immediately to your right when you get up the escalator. Around 3 yesterday there were bottles on top of the glass case, and I saw another ~2 cases just behind the counter.

While picking up some beer last night from my local produce store, the owner asks if i had ever seen "this" before, pulling out a bottle of CBS. Price tag was 44.99. Yikes. Told him that i had a few bottles myself but i paid 24.99. He was surprised and he explained that he paid that amount himself and only after buying cases of other Founders beers and was only allotted 1 case for his 4 stores. Shady distributors strike again!

We complain about unscrupulous stores pretty frequently here, and rightfully so, but there are probably a number of stores in the same unfortunate situation as this and we ought to spend a little more time focused on the distributors and their role in the pricing of beer across the city.

Based on the convos with a handful of local mom and pop stores, this practice is the norm for them when it comes to these special releases sadly.

These are now shelfies at WF Union Square. Literally cases are stacked out in the open
