CBS in Chicagoland

I haven't heard of anywhere in the South Suburbs tapping it ever.

 

I know there is a bar in Lemont tapping it next Thursday, sadly I won't be in town for it. Just gonna have to hope its at DLD.

 

It's not in the south suburbs but Bar on Buena is tapping it Sunday 4/12, Opens/Tickets at 11am and tapped at noon.

 

While it seems like the most-random places that you'd expect CBS to be tapped, it's pretty cool.

 

BoB tip is really appreciated! Not too far from my place, either. Thanks! Seeing as I've missed out on all the other tapping events, I figure this is probably my last chance so might as well make a move and see if I can get to it.

 

Thought the Long Room tapping was pretty random too.

 

Bar on Buena and Long Room are long-established Chicago beer bars. It doesn't seem random at all.

 

There are hundreds of long-established beer bars in Chicago, the overwhelming majority of which are better known and definitely more frequented than BOB and LR. I bet if you polled 100 Chicago-proper residents aged 21-50, maybe 5 would know of those 2 bars. So it does seem pretty random for the limited release of one of the best beers on the planet.

 

Maybe I'm just old school. I still disagree but arguing on the internet isn't my thing.

 

I always thought of BoB and Long Room as neighborhood spots with above average beer lists. Definitely not the type of places you recommend to someone from out of town who's really into craft beer. Within a couple of miles you have Hopleaf, Fountainhead, Bad Apple, Jerry's... all with much more interesting, eclectic and extensive tap lists.

 

Maria's is supposed to be tapping CBS sometime in May. Spoke to the owner last week. Said to stay tuned.

 

Maybe the culmination of the ongoing roll out the barrel event?

 

Bar on Buena and Fountainhead have the same owners. It's sensible.

 

Bar on Buena is one of my all-time-favorite Chicago bars due to its tremendous lack of pretense.

I like that it flies under the radar.

 

Props to Bar on Buena for an easy, well-run, not overly crowded release. Weather was nice, easy to get the beer, wish all releases resembled this one.

 

Agreed. Absolutely great event. Wife and I got there a few minutes after 11 and got a table, no problem. Were able to get a pour and enjoy some delicious nachos.

Next few tappings I know about are Tap House Grill in Lemont on Thursday 7pm (4/16) and Jerry's Andersonville next week Tuesday 7pm tickets 8:30 pm tapping (4/21), and Beer Geeks Highland on Dark Lord Day 8pm (4/25).

 

There's a CBS/KBS tapping at the Tap House Grill in St. Charles on Thursday 4/30. KBS gets tapped at 7pm and CBS tapped at 9pm.

 

That Tap House Lemont event will be mobbed -- they're putting out lots of .rar beers. But they're also going to have some sort of tent outside to accommodate the expected crowds.

 

Yeah that event has a sweet taplist but it will undoubtedly be a complete cluster.
