CBS has been tapped twice in Rochester so far- at the Tap and Mallet and at the Basin Pub. I heard from somebody- don't know the truth of this, but whatever- that Rochester got 8 kegs of it. I know the Old Toad will have it at the end of the month. MacGregor's may have it at some point, but it's probably not worth it, as it'll likely taste like dirty gym shorts after going through their tap lines.

Could not agree more. If I wasn't in the area already I never would have went. Glad I got to try CBS, but dealing with rude, inconsiderate people just made the experience crap. At least I got to play a bunch of old video games that brought me back.

@Kanger, good point. Shouldn't turn a blind eye to the asshats that ruin these things for us more respectful patrons. I actually got shut out of CBS at an event in Philly a couple years ago where people were doing exactly what was described. With the added bonus of people sitting at the bar getting to order many times and pass beer back before many of the people standing there even got served.

But then some dude who had ordered 2 gave one of his to my wife, who was on the other end of the bar and also got shut out. I'll make sure to pay that kindness forward should the situation arise.

Founders event at Top hops tonight couldn't have been run any smoother. .not too crowded and the ticketing system to keep things in check was done great..CBS lasted for an eternity ( in beer geek culture) as every one there got at least one pour (I get 4!) And was still going when I left at 9..awesome!

Word! As long as you showed up at 7pm on you were guaranteed at least 1 pour of CBS or more. In reality, you could get unlimited 4oz pours of cbs for as long as that keg lasted. Hope everyone got some.

Shit....I live a 5 min walk from there and completely put it in the back of my mind until now since I assumed it would be a shit show.

Completely agree here. I decided to leave after I got my pour(realized I would've been able to get more but it was a Tuesday after all...), but it was done incredibly well, not overly packed, and from what I understand the keg lasted for a bit over 2 hours. After hearing about the disaster at barcade, seems like this is the right way to do it (although I'm sure a portion was just due to there being a lot less people there this time around for whatever reason)

sad i missed it. didn't go because i couldn't leave work at 5p and i figured by 6p or so the line would be ridiculous.

Glad to hear the Top Hops event ran smoothly. You know something works out right when a keg of CBS lasts around 2 hours!

Sounds like it was run a lot better then the barcade event, where the keg only lasted ~15 minutes.

I wasn't there for a taste, but I've heard first hand that it has the rare magical ability to radically increase its own beer rating due to its extreme rarity and desirability. Might just be tall tales told 'round the water cooler, however, as so few people have actually seen CBS in the wild to actually verify the accounts.

yes..it was delicious...hype worthy for sure...had CBS from a bottle last year...maple had faded a bit..on tap last night the maple was very much in the forefront..not overly sweet thou..very creamy...similar to KBS

Yep, the CBS event at Top Hops with the ticketing system was incredibly smooth and enjoyable, I feel like they atoned for the Prop debacle last year. At $1 an oz the price seemed fair, too.

John Brown Smokehouse is the place to be at right now if you want to try 12 oz CBS pours.

Yes. It is $15 though but it is the same price Top Hops was charging per ounce.
