Tapping at Coopers Tavern in Madison in 3 minutes and the place is not yet packed.

Quite a few upset people. It is what it is. I missed out this time. Got here at 4:30 but I'm not a mug club member. Oh well.

 

Yup, kicked @ Lockhart's before 6. Last time we will eat here. Placed my order at 5 pm.

"Ryan Meray I ended up pouring out some of mine to give to other tables that got stiffed. Then I heard that you had been pouring for mug club members and a private party downstairs for 2 hours."

Yikes - what a trainwreck - doubly so if the private party bit is true. Why even promote a tap time if you plan on pulling this nonsense? I nearly trekked up to Royal Oak for this shit show. Can certainly understand those that are pissed.

 

Any news on Chicago?

 

Founders will have more CBS at 9 if you missed out so far. I'm so happy I happened to be in town for work when it tapped and I owe @Ckoz for mentioning it...I'll buy you a beer if you're ever in Madison.

I expected to be let down and instead was very impressed. I just wish the waiter had ever come back with the water I ordered...I really needed something to cut that sweetness.

 

Glad you made it in time. I too was worried I overhyped it in my head but it was pretty damn good.

 

It could have been handled better and promoted more clearly for sure. I feel badly for the people who came extra early, like two friends I was with who did so at my suggestion having never tried CBS, that got shut out but knew what they were getting into. I feel awful for the employees of Lockhart's who weren't working the bar. I have no sympathy for anyone that berates the manager, claiming this is his second visit and both times were bad experiences. Berated him badly enough that he got a sample, presumably for free, and continued to complain loud enough for the whole section to hear. I have neither sympathy nor respect for someone posting on Facebook that she neglected to tip because she got shut out. Definitely not the waitress' fault. Why punish her? Kudos to Ryan, whose Facebook post is above, for recognizing a bad situation and making it better for some people. I left there more angry at many in this "community" I belong to than not being able to get a glass of beer I badly wanted.

 

Founder's started pouring at 6 and didn't stop til after 7:30. Amazing beer and cudos to founder's for the amount of kegs they must have tapped for the huuuge 6:00 crowd. Had three pours over the course of the hour and a half and didn't regret a one. Huge thanks to @AnchorDrops for the heads up!

That was me. (the post has since been deleted by Lockhart's, as far as I can tell)

They gave me a mighty big pour (was way over the stuff I saw some other people getting), so I dispensed about 4oz between 4 tables that got shafted.

Probably one of the worst-conceived tappings of any beer I have ever seen.

For all the shit One Eyed Betty's gets for their pricing, when they tapped BB9K, they had everyone queued up and there wasn't an empty glass in the bar when the keg kicked.

 

Lockhart's was a bit of a disappointment. I managed to get a small glass, But it was also a little discouraging to see some mug club members enjoying their CBS with another 1-2 full ones in front of them for when their first ran out. But hey, guess thats the perks of the mug club ..

 

I am so mad at lockharts. I waited from 4:30 until 6:04. Urgh. Still didn't get a pour.

 

Tapped at 5, rolled in at 6:15, props to the people at the bar who told me it was still on as I was about to order Big Luscious. It was pretty damn great, 12$ for 10oz? Totally worth it, well done Madison.

 

Except mine

I remember, I was able to get a comfortable elbow in at the bar, 5 minutes before I asked if they had tapped it yet. 5 minutes after they were supposed to I asked again and she said they hadn't yet, same with 10 minutes and 15. Then she came back at 20 or 30 minutes after and said that it already kicked. Huh? I was so sad.

 

Wow, that's a bummer. I didn't think anyone got hosed that day.

 

Wow, Lockhart's sounds like it was a shit show. Sorry to all the BA's that were there that got shutout.
