CBS is back

Anybody know of anywhere in northern Michigan gonna be tapping this soon?

 

I was always under the impression that the base for KBS was a blend of FBS and FIS aged in bourbon barrels.

 

This was not my experience... from what I heard it went on right around 6:00. I got down around 6:25 and was told they'd just done their last pour and it was gone. I got a Big Lushious and struck up a conversation at the bar and one of the guys there who was on his second pour offered to give me his remaining 3/4 or so. Everyone around me was being told it was gone at this point, tap handle was off and sitting on the counter. I left around 7:00, maybe there was a ton of deceit and selective pouring for friends but it didn't appear that way to me.

 

I'll in Ann Arbor area Saturday but I'm not a big Ashley's fan. And a small limited keg like this means the place will be jam packed and probably gone before I would get some anyway.

 

The first post I saw from someone drinking it was at 4:40 pm, so I'm guessing they tapped it at around 4:30. I got there just after it ran out at 6:15 or so. Luckily, a friend had already ordered one for me.

 

One. I can say no more.

 

Here's hoping they hold that sucker until the Saturday session.

 

Anybody know a place in Lansing that might still have it when I roll through tomorrow night on my way to 4 Elf?

Yes, whomever said 6:00pm was incorrect. It was just after 4:30pm that it was tapped. Knowing that, I almost didn't even bother going when I left my office at 5:30pm but made it there in time. Sorry your experience wasn't the same, but jumping to conclusions isn't always the best thing to do either. Its just beer.

 

Any aware of any southwest Michigan locations that might get CBS?

 

This is not true. I was there at 5:00 and there were plenty of people with beers already.

 

Yep looks like I just got some bad information.

Maybe I came across wrong... I was speaking specifically about the amount of time it was available. Not sure what conclusion I jumped to? Seems like they did a great job with this, great atmosphere, no hate from me

Why even bring up the thought that there may have been "deceit and selective pouring?"

 

Lulz I said it DIDN'T look that way to me, I just thought either a.) they didn't get that much or, b.) if in fact it did go on at 6:00 in order to fit the 2 hour time frame you laid out maybe they held some back. I was wrong about the time, it going on at 4:30 makes perfect sense.

Deceit is a charged word I guess, maybe I should have been a bit more conscious of this. Believe me, I walked out with a big smile on my face having had a nice pour of CBS and seeing a couple friends, even if I hadn't gotten a pour of CBS the Big Lushious was great.

 

First CBS is back and now Blushing Monk coming back?!?! Hard to say which one i'm more excited about...

 

I'd call Soup Spoon, Tap 25, and Horrock's, as theirs lasted longer than Crunchy's and HopCat. I think you're SOL though. Find me at 4 Elf, I'll pour you some Jackie O's.

 

At the Score on Dec 26. Along with BCBS and Lil Sumpin Wild.

 

Interested to hear a comparison between batches.

The first was a maple bomb (too much so to me). I still thought it was a great beer

 

If anybody finds out about kegs making it to indianapolis or bloomington please pass along that info!
