I haven't had it personally but the story from others is that its fallen off quite a bit. Which is to be expected considering the ingredients. I would imagine there are still bottles to be had but most will want quite a bit for it. I wouldn't trade a whole lot for one personally. I'd love to try it but i'm not about to give up some great beers for one. EDIT: Also, I frequent the trade boards daily and have not seen a lot of demand for them lately. It's not too often people are looking for them anymore. So maybe that will help.
Big fan of blushing monk as well. Just curious to try CBS again at this point. Not wiling to trade the farm, as I agree that it probably has fallen off quite a bit.
The last two bottles I tried were basically black licorice. I hate black licorice flavor so I literally wouldn't trade anything for one now. CBS was one of my favorite beers fresh. I think a lot of the talk of beers falling off is BS, but in this case it has fallen off a cliff IMO.
I heard rumors (yes I know...) that they'll be re-releasing cbs this fall but seems like they've been talking about that for a while. Might hold off until they do.
Had one 5 months ago. I enjoyed it. Never tried fresh, but I'd drink it again. I think I traded prop 1:1 for it. Happy with it.
Been a little while since I had CBS but it was still decent then. I think the main issue is storage conditions as a lot of these bottles haven't been properly stored and have been traded across the country a few times by now
I have 2 bottles left that I bought right when they were released. Properly stored (steady temp of around 65, in my basement, inside a box w/no holes, no windows in basement). Last bottle I had in Dec 2013 still drank pretty great, but there was some falling off from when I had in Oct 2012 and fresh in 2011. But that's to be expected. The bottle I had last Dec hadn't fallen off a cliff.
I recently traded a Coffee Abraxas + Life is Like for a CBS and a framed CBS poster. Opened it up on Saturday and it was pretty oxidized. Girlfriend still enjoyed it (It was one of her Birthday presents) which is all that matters.
@mocktm, take Dino up on this. Super, solid porch crusher right here. Plus, I'd like to try CBS again
Part of me still kinda wants to try this. But from a personal white whale stand point. I already know that if I actually drank a bottle of this I would contemplate if anything I desire will ever reach the hype in my head. Here's to hoping that Founders decides to stop fucking around with these mediocre backstage series beers and release CBS again.
Probably but the poster is really sweet and I needed to lock down the beer to get it in time for birthday celebrations.
