I'll be visiting the in-laws in a couple weeks and was hoping to score some Tropicalia cans in Atlanta. I'll be in Garden Hills. Is Tower my best bet? Does it usually stay in stock? I'll also be visiting Athens, is it an absolute that I'll be able to find it there if I don't have luck in Atlanta? Thanks for any and all help. Whoever points me in the right direction will score some Trillium from Boston!
Trolicalia will DEFINITELY be available all over Athens (you should check out the brewery while you're in town too). I don't live in Atlanta, but I imagine Tower would have some. If not, check out Green's and then maybe Hop City. You should be able to find some Athena if you're interested as well.
Atlanta gets it in ever now and again. If you have twitter follow AdamATLbeer for The tower locations. and GreensBeer for the greens locations. Also follow HopCity. These folks typically announce when they get tropicalia in. BEST bet is to keep track and go to the store right when it is announced. It sells quicker than they can stock it in ATL these days. Lots of good beer bars and bars in general get kegs. Look for Cosmik Debris on drafts also. Their DIPA is solid as the IPA. Do not know about athens, but I am sure that market gets quite a bit more allotment. Cheers, Good luck
Also last time I picked some up at Greens (on ponce) They were selling them 1 sixer per person. This beer has really made a name for itself when they start holding it in the back. Might have to ask for it from an employee.
Like many said here already, Athens is a sure bet for it. Just don't get discouraged if the first couple of places you visit don't have it. Keep looking, even the Krogers and Golden Pantries are carrying it around here.
I'll be in Athens on Saturday with my in-laws and only have time to make a couple stops. Are there any stores that are sure bets to pick up Tropicalia cans?
Anyone know where to find some Tropicalia in the Savannah area? Haven't had any luck the past few weeks, one of the package stores mentioned that they signed a big deal with Kroger which is taking up a lot of the inventory from CC.
I don't think they distribute cans outside of ATL and ATH yet. Maybe check for growler shops or bars to see if they have it on tap. -------Re: Main thread There's is a little CC drought here in Athens right now. Today was the first time I couldn't find any Tropicalia cans after looking in 6 different places.
It's weird. Athena doesn't seem to be at any of the usual places either. I imagine CC wasn't prepared for their beer to be quite so popular, and if it keeps up, it might be a while before we see any of their other beers in cans.
That and maybe brewing Cosmik Debris and Dayspring. Understandable if things are a bit crazy and they're trying to catch up. Consequences of being really good. Would be nice if they're just secretly brewing Curious #2 and #4 to bottle them.
I've been to a few different Kroger locations in the area, they have spots on the shelf for CC but nothing in stock. And the package store I asked said they couldn't get their hands on any. I think it could be in Savannah if there was enough available, but from the past few posts it sounds like they are experiencing the typical limited availability that happens to most breweries that get too popular too fast. Hopefully they can catch up, I'd like to have some Tropicalia in the fridge!
I'm pretty sure a couple of the Curious beers have been bottled already. Hopefully they'll see the light of day soon. Curious 3 and 4 are going to send the hype through the stratosphere.
Macon gets a decent amount of Athena in cans. If we get Tropicalia I haven't seen it yet. Unsure on Savannah.
I've talked with a few of the CC guys, and they have more equipment on order to keep up with demand. Give it a few more months and we'll start seeing Tropicalia a lot more regular, along with other choices. If you notice, they're not putting into money into advertising or schwag, it's all 'going into steel'. Very few breweries open up and don't dump a ton of money into marketing, but the beer speaks for them in waves more than any ads can. Not a day goes by that at least three people don't call or come in looking for their beers.
