I think CCB should shut down Jai Alai and Zhukov and make more white oak cucumber lager, Batch 69 double cream ale, and Helles. Also, what happened to the Ruby Pogo on draft in the tasting room? That shit was like WHOA good.

I take regular trips to Orlando and in the past I have ordered stuff from Total Wine in advance to make sure I got it. Last Thanksgiving, I pre-ordered Moat Water and two bottles of Zhukov. However, now they have pretty much nothing in stock on their site. Limited Jai Alai and Helles and nothing else. Is it really drying up that bad? I'm gonna be pretty bummed if Tocobaga Red isn't around when I got on the 4th.

I honestly believe you could brew nothing but Jai Alai for 3 months (not that you would) and nobody would consider you a one brand bruery. Jai Alai, Jai Alai variations, MZ, Cucumber Saison, Hunahpu, anything barrel aged, those berliners (that you SERIOUSLY need to bottle) and the list goes on. Most brueries would kill to brew just one of those.

They probably COULD get away with that... but why would they want to? They set a nice brewing schedule and would want to release all their seasonals on time. Jai Alai is in high demand, sure. And they are working their butts off to get it out the door. But sacrificing a whole quarter to just brew Jai Alai would result in a temporary push of jai alai out to people, probably still only florida, and then there would be a shortage again... and now everything else would be behind. The only real solution is expansion of capacity, which I'm sure they are looking at every avenue. Changing to cans was a huge step for that capacity/output. Much more jai alai is going out than ever before, but demand is outgrowning it. This is a great problem for them, and the potential opportunity cost of lost sales due to unmet demand probably has the owners drooling over how they can tap into revenue stream. I bet they will, without sacrificing all their other great products.

there are four 120bbl fermentors waiting to be installed right now and then another six are on the way. the city hasn't been too great about some issues that need to be addressed before we can amp up production so it's been a slow process

I have no idea, I did not know the Bud one was in the theme park. But that is the one I was alluding to. It was a joke. Gunhaver was talking about the city giving them a hard time.

Also if you guys have not checked this out, please do and spread the word.
there is going to be an event at MIA brewing in Miami on the 6th at 1pm. Free beer just donations.

You might have been joking, but it is an interesting idea, at the very least ;-)

I know there is a so called jai Alai shortage but everywhere I go there is a plethora of jai Alai... I see sixers at every gas station, publix, mini mart and liquor store.

    Gunhaver,
what is the city doing that is standing in the way? just curious.
    Is it political?
Is there anything the general public can do? emails, phone calls, etc?

RE: Jai Alai shortage (and this is probably a dumb question) - Do they sell it in cans at the brewery and do they ever run out there? I'm swinging through Tampa in a few weeks and would like to pick some up. I only ask because I know 3 Floyds sells out of Zombie on the regular... would hate for them to be out when I show up.

They do sell at the brewery, and i've never seen them out there, nor most places in tampa. If someone couldn't get jai alai in their area, they could still get jai alai (via trade... same way we get heady, zombie dust down here)
Plus its in growlers too, although that isn't quite as economical i believe. 6 for 32 oz (plus 4 for growler) vs 9 for 72 oz (6 pk of 12 oz)

I figured that was the case but didn't want to totally assume. Thanks for the info, I'm heading to West Palm Beach after my stop in Tampa, so I'm looking to stock up for the weekend and then to bring some back to the ATL. do they only fill CCB growlers at the brewery?

You can get Jai Alai in cans at the brewery or the brewpub...

This is a just a shot in the dark but I would guess it has to do with something utilities related, most likely water or sewer lines need to be moved or upgraded. But again, just a total guess.

I hope it is something like that Josh. As that seems like an obstacle that can be overcome with some money. Its those stupid politicians that get in the way in many cases (ex. see the growler law battle)
