One of the most unique collaborations we've been a part of was the beer we brewed with Ecliptic Brewing, Illuminating the Path. Ecliptic is a new brewery out of Oregon founded by John Harris, the legendary brewer behind many fantastic beers at Deschutes Brewery and Full Sail Brewing Company. The beer itself marries several ideas, namely connecting Florida and Oregon together. A dark beer, Illuminating the Path was brewed with hibiscus and acai berries from Florida, as well as rose hips and marionberries from Oregon. Then it was aged in pinot noir barrels out of Oregon. The final product is fantastic; the total compilation of ingredients and the wine barrels create a vinous product that still maintains its identity as a beer. ... Illuminating the Path has been exclusive to El Catador Club up until now, where there will be a very limited number of bottles available to the public in our tasting room today at 11am. Limit one per person. Expect to see some of these in Oregon, too! "}' data-reactid=".r[55go3]">Like · · Share · 254 · 23 minutes ago
The line was at least 50 deep when I got there a few minutes before 11. With no idea how many are available, I didn't even bother parking. I doubt they last through the day.
At least they are limiting it to 1 per person of each. It would suck to see those Jackwagons walk out with cases like they some beers in the past.
I was able to try this and it's really, really good, and it's pleasantly different from what I think typically ends up at most tastings. It was almost like an imperial stout and a red wine were blended to create this because the barrel gives off so much flavor.
