Don't blame him. Move to Ashville or some other craft friendly state. I would still support them.

My opinion, it's a positioning move/statement, on their behalf, for the rest of the Florida craft beer companies. When you have a powerhouse company like CCB that threatens to take their $$$$$$$ else where the legislators look at things in a differently.
It's like Sam Adams pulling out of Boston because they threatened him with some BS...not gonna happen.

Isn't most Sam Adams brewed in Cincinnati? Probably not a good example...

I've said this for awhile. He is targeting the Asheville area, and will most likely end up in Black Mountain.

The tital of this post says it all "second home." Even if Joey opened a place in Carolins the brewery in Tampa will stay operational. Even if there is no tasting room. This is why we all need to do everything we can to make our voice heard to judges, politicans, and owners of ditribution companies/ bottle shops!

    Second home <> Leaving Tampa.

Why wouldn't he set up a production brewery that is in a beer friendly area/state? Asheville would be a prime location for making and distributing Jai Alai, Cracker, and Invasion. It would free up Tampa to produce more of the seasonal and specialty beers that everyone loves. I am sure they would do some of their own specialty brews at a new location but I am sure the Tampa spot would do the majority of the things like Hunapu, etc.

I mean how many people here complain about not getting much CCB in Atlanta? Wouldn't it be nice to have it coming 3 hours away instead of 9 hours? Plus gets the core beers closer to the Mid Atlantic and would then likely open up NC/SC.

I'd imagine there may be out of state cities that would love to see Cigar City setup shop there and some that would offer some lucrative tax incentives to have them.

What a shame if the legislature lets it come to that.

Brew Hub, who brews for CCB now, states they will open more facilities. Their site says 4 in the next 5 years. A continuing connection between the two companies wouldn't be a bad idea.

A while back there was talk about potentially opening up an expansion site/brewery in Traveler's Rest, SC.

Still do not understand why anyone would want to open/do anything in SC. ^^
Would not mind them opening up in the Asheville area. My folks are moving there in Feb.
    Cheers!

Because the beer-related laws in S.C. are now more desirable by brewers, than both Georgia and Florida? And perhaps there is a feel that Asheville has enough competition as it is? Because it's 2 hours away from 2 MAJOR markets that can be much more easily taken advantage of, by moving to S.C.?

There are plenty of reasons to look in the state of S.C.. I'm sure folks like Westbrook and Holy City haven't minded being here.

Bro relax. I forgot, South carolinians pay as minimal tax as possible.. and it certainly shows when passing through it. I am actually native of Charlotte. NC, as a state is better than both. I agree GA has backwards laws relating to breweries. Your people do not check your cars and drive on our roads in CLT, and live in rockhill.

Yea most of my bias is socially against SC. WB makes some ok things...

That was a good method last time around to influence legislators concerned about job growth and the perception of them being "small business job killers." However, I don't think the people behind this lawsuit will be influenced by this type of threat. Just my 2 cents.

Hippies gonna hippie? j/k. It's dumb we don't check our cars. But the cars that you worry about aren't getting checked in NC either. It's a non-issue.
