I have a modest collection of beers I'm aging but I do not have the means for a wine cooler to convert or anything like that.
I'm wondering what my best option is as to where to store the beers for now.

It's looking like keeping them at my girlfriend's house is the best option, but she's 2 hours away. I suppose the distance might make sure I only open them for special occasions. But I'm still wondering what my second best option would be if I wanted to them at home. Currently, they're in the attic.

The attic might not be the best choice if its hot up there. I once read that every ten degrees higher than room temperature lowers the beers "lifespan" by a third. I'm not sure if that is correct or not or if perhaps the increased temperature could do some good in the short run for the beer but that is why i keep it in the basement on the concrete under the stairs. No light, and consistent cool temperature.

Please let me know if the 10 degrees plus fact i just stated makes any sense.

Is the concern primarily the purchase cost, or are their other factors such as space etc? There are some amazing deals to be had on Craig's List for refrigerators, freezers, and wine cellars.
