Good grief, I just found that my bottle of Goose Island Juliet 2009 had exploded...shards of glass everywhere. And I was just thinking that I should get it out and drink it.:slight_frown:

I feel for you, and if I had it to send your way I would! Shit like that just sucks; it deflates you. I know it'd be a reach for anyone to send you s spare, but I hope you get to drink it st someone's table soon

The really sad parts are...I had it fresh and it was awesome. I got it from a great BA that doesn't seem to be a part of BA anymore. The beer, obviously, can be replaced and thanks hugely for offering if you had one. The big downer for me, in the long run, is losing a "connection" to a great beer buddy of mine that I may not interact with again.

I guess I'll just have to reach for a beer and say Cheers to joe1510 and say.... thanks!

I had a bottle explode on me before. Thanked be the heavens, it was only a €5 bottle, but it was a 750. Apparently it exploded with such force that it actually left an imprint on my shelf. I think the bottom of it failed and the rest of the bottle acted more like a rocket than a bomb as it didn't really explode as much as it must've taken off and smashed itself into a million pieces against the wall on the other side of the room. I'm sure that would have made an awesome high speed shot on Mythbusters!

I thought this was going to be something about how all your bottles broke in an earthquake or something. (Still, that sucks.)

That sucks hardcore; it was still around here on the shelves as of about a month ago at a couple sort of out-of-the-way locations, but sadly it's not anymore. I feel for ya, re: the fact that half of the fun of beer trading is the relationships that you build through said trades.

I have heard other stories about 2009 Juliet's exploding. I really should get mine out of my beer fridge. I'd hate to have to clean up that mess (top shelf, in the very back). I think I will put that on my "things to do" list today.

Sorry to hear about your loss!

Should be fine as long it's kept cold I would think.

Carleton: No need to move it from the beer fridge. These explosions on the Batch 1 & 2 Juliets were the result of continuing fermentation inside the bottle due to residual sugars being consumed by Brett / Bacteria. If its in the fridge it will ****** the growth and continued fermentation due to the cold temperatures.

However, If I had any Batch 1 or 2 Juliet, Small Animal Big Machine, or other known highly overcarbed bottles I'd get those suckers in a fridge or at least isolated from the rest of your cellar.

    Cheers!
