    ABV doesn't determine the base style tho.

    I understand your comparison, but if Deschutes says it's a porter, who am I to argue with them.

    Anyone think Golden Drak and/or Golden Drak 9000 might age well? I've never had either and I'm interested in picking a few up; some for drinking now, and the rest for aging.

    Last night a few friends and I opened a fresh 2013 Double Bastard along side a 2007. All three of us preferred the older bottle. Obviously the hops were not as prevalent but the remaining flavors took on almost a barley wine like character. Every year I stash away a few bottles of DB and have never been disappointed.

    Both are great to age, the carbonation disappears a little and the flavour gets more intense.
